What do you guys think of the PS4 exclusive game Spider-Man suit?

The white logo is growing on me, and everything but the feet looks great. Wish he had a more boot-like design

at first i thought he was wearing a backpack and loved it but then i realized he wasnt and my love went down
i think its alright. im more concerned with how the game looks than the costume. costume's a little too busy but overall i can dig. like the white spider a lot. it seems really fresh and looks cool. wouldn't want the definitive spider-man costume to have it, but for this i think it works

as of now i plan to buy the heck out of this game. wont top ultimate sm on ps2 for me, but i want a solid modern spider-man game and this looks like it could be that based on what very very little we've seen.

Yeah I was surprised he doesn't have a backpack. Maybe they'll add it later, or it'll be for various missions in-game.

So far, nothing I've played from Insomniac has let me down, such as the first few Spyro games, the second Ratchet and Clank, and Resistance 3. Watching stuff from Sunset Overdrive gives me hope that they know how to handle the web-swinging better than Beenox ever did too.

i meant more of the story and character stuff. there were some lines in there that rubbed me the wrong way for a spider-man game. as for gameplay, i hope they dont do too much with the camera and attacks. ultimate sm is beautiful simplistic and ever sm game ive seen after that doesnt look nearly as good bc its too busy.

So I just got Overwatch for PS4. Did pretty good on my first match. Though for some reason I got disconnected and I'm not sure why.

I can't even begin to judge the story off of that sub-2 minute video though, and the character lines...dunno, sound pretty fitting and standard for Spidey?

Personally really hoping they skip the origin story and it's something that's at least after most of the standard villains have been introduced and familiarized.

As many games as it's been used in, I think the Batman: Arkham combat system's skeleton just fits Spider-Man so perfectly. Visible counter symbols for the player makes so much sense for Peter's Spider-Sense, and jumping all over the place to hit enemies on opposite ends of an arena fits his mobility. Beyond that, I'd like stuff from Neversoft's PS1-era Spidey games, such as the web gloves and web shields and such.

Speaking of Ultimate, I need to get that game and finish it sometime. I only remember beginning stuff like fighting Elektro and playing as Venom for a bit.

well for starters i just dont like an aged spider-man. i feel like if youre gonna do an aged spider-man it needs to be a story about him moving on from being spider-man. if this is that than maybe ill love it. i also question that one line about everyone looking up to him but not knowing who he is and all that whatever. maybe it just fell on my ears wrong but it sounded out of character in the moment. not horrendously out of character but just slightly... idk... not really spider-man. i also didnt like the score. it sounded like a larger than life superhero score. i dont like when they try to elevate spider-man to the level of someone like superman/batman/cap am/ww. again, it doesnt seem appropriate for the character. although, like i said, there's a lot of room for them to change my mind. if this is a story about a middle-aged spider-man who has gotten to that point where people look up to him and its about him quitting than heck yeah im all over it. maybe im just being hyper critical. im probably being hyper critical. hope its a good game. kinda goes without saying that i want it to be the arkham for spider-man which does not yet exist.

edit: was liking macross do you remember love but i read a thing about how the original series did it differently so guess what i prob just committed to watching another franchise bc it sounds cool.

I didn't say aged/middle-aged, I just don't care to see the spider bite, the crappy suit, the dead uncle, the introductions of villains we know already, etc.

They don't know who he is because...he has a secret identity? I don't know how else that line could be interpreted. Like how everyone knows Tony Stark is Iron Man and Steve Rogers is Captain America. That's what I got.

Yeah, you are definitely being hyper-critical, but then again you clearly are against a version of Spider-Man that I honestly don't think I know. I know the 90's cartoon, the Neversoft games, the three Sam Raimi films, the two Amazing(ly terrible) films, the MCU Spidey, and a few other versions like the one that was in the Civil War and AvX comics. The only one that felt way too grandiose was the AvX version, but even that one was somewhat enjoyable for how clever Peter was in that arc.

I wouldn't say terrible. Average for the first one, and below average for the second but not terrible. BvS is terrible, The Spirit is terrible, The Phantom is terrible. The Amzing Spider-man films? Meh.

Nah, I genuinely think the Amazing films suck. I'd go on if anyone cares to hear why.

This ain't gonna be all of my issues, and they're probably very poorly articulated right now, because I'd have to rewatch the movies, which I honestly don't really want to.

Preface all of this with "in my opinion" obviously:
    • Andrew Garfield's version of Peter Parker is wholly unrelatable and misses what Peter Parker should be: an awkward science geek who isn't liked by most people outside of his family and a few friends, is raised with a different perspective on life that includes being very frugal and humble and nice.
    • Instead, Garfield Parker looks ridiculously handsome (though this is in no way rare with many modern superhero film protgaonists), buys his official (as in, not the ghetto-looking version) hero costume off the internet (instead of making it himself), is a really good skater (not that I think you can't be both a skater and an awkward nerd OFC, but this is screenwriting for a superhero character and feels like a very odd choice),
    • There was no good reason to waste the first Amazing film as an origins story. Not only was/is Sam Raimi's first Spidey film wildly popular, I'd guess that at least half the people who know the name "Spider-Man" already know the basics: spider-bite, dead uncle, "With great power comes great responsiblity" (which they, for whatever reason, avoided saying outright in the Amazing films)
    • The Lizard looks terrible. Not only is the CG not used well, the design is uninteresting to me and just ugly, though how he fights is pretty good.
    • Peter's parents' scenes are wastes of time. Neither is an interesting character, the spy thing isn't done well, and they don't hold much relevance.
    • "Here's a super duper secret laboratory that you can just FUCKIN SNEAK IN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY ON A FIELD TRIP!"
    • The death of Uncle Ben was badly directed, written, and shot. It shouted "contrived."
    • That stupid fucking crane scene...I dunno the last time I cringed so hard in a theater.
    • Green Goblin in Sam Raimi's first Spidey film has a clear Darwinian motivation for what he's doing: he wants Spidey to join him and basically the strongest will do whatever the hell they want. Amazing 1's Lizard...just wants everyone else to be weird lizard people I guess?
    • "By the way, here's Harry, your best friend who we just never saw fit to show or reference at all in the first film for reasons!" It felt so forced because they had zero chemistry on-screen.
    • Peter not living up to Captain Stacy's promise...really? I wanted to yell at Peter the whole time. Just added to why I didn't give a shit about Garfield Parker. He doesn't seem to learn jack shit from his experiences.
    • Green Goblin looks fucking BAD. Worse than The Lizard for me.
    • Amazing Harry is nowhere near as interesting to watch as either Willem Dafoe or James Franco. And him going after Peter and Gwen felt so out-of-nowhere and cartoonishly evil, going against the semi-serious tone of the films. I couldn't get behind him at all as far as motivations go.
    • The death of Gwen, THE BEST CHARACTER IN EITHER FILM, was shot and directed so, so, badly. "CGI Web Hand" says about all I need to say I think. That and all the lame foreshadowing and obvious death flags throughout the film.
    • Electro's character and personality is basically chucked out the window once he's all blue and electric.
But something in general that both films (and partly the Ultimate comics that inspired such films) do badly in my opinion is change Peter Parker's becoming Spider-Man from chance and choosing to take up responsibility to that of heritage and family history. NOT THAT THE SECOND IS NEVER GOOD, but the Spider-Man I like embodied the idea of anyone being able to become a hero with the right mentality and upbringing and abilities, not just the son of a special family.

This isn't to say that either film lacks good stuff (I REALLY like the Spidey-Sense slow-mo scene and Peter doing tech stuff in Amazing 2, and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy is super fun to watch,) but I'm just so disappointed by both, especially after what I consider to be near perfect Spider-Man films with Sam Raimi's first two. The train scene in Spider-Man 2 alone is just...so good.
