"Maybe... Just maybe, Vivi will find what he's looking for." Zidane said as he started to walk to the room reserved for them.

 

"What is that?" Dagger asked, wondering the same thing for Jecht.

 

"A place to call home." Zidane said to her

 

Dagger nodded and laid on the top bunk.

 

Zidane lay on the bottom bunk as he stared up at the above bed.

 

Dagger looked out the window and wondered Jecht would really be able to let Vivi be with the black mages.

 

"What's the matter? Can't fall asleep? How about a bedtime story? Let's see... Once upon a time..." Zidane begun to talk.

 

"There you go, teasing me again." She said.

 

Zidane continued as he ignored Dagger's response. "Once upon a time... ...there was a man. There was a man who didn't know where he came from..."

 

Dagger calmly listened to him.

 

""This man had longed to find his birthplace ever since he was a small child. His birthplace. A place he only remembered in his dreams..." Zidane begun to tell the tale.

 

Dagger continued to listen as Jecht did too, unknowingly.

 

"He thought it might be a memory of his birthplace. An ocean, maybe...?" Zidane said thoughtfulyl as he lay comfortable in his bed.

 

Dagger remained quiet.

 

"I'll probably bore you with all the details so we'll skip ahead, No, he never found it. How could he? His only clue was a colored light. So he went back to the home of his adoptive father... What do you think his father did when he came home?" Zidane asked Dagger.

 

"Welcomed home?"

 

""No way! The father raised his fist and beat the son he had worked so hard to raise..." Zidane said calmly.

 

Dagger was surprised at his answer.

 

"But you know what surprised him even more? The father smiled, after beating up his son! Can you believe that? He just gave his son a beating. But this is what the man thought when he saw his father smile... This is my home. This is the place I call home. The man is still searching for his birthplace. But he already has a home. Maybe... ...it's the same for Vivi. He's looking for a place to call home." Zidane started to explain.

 

"Maybe Jecht is helping him find that place." Dagger said thoughtfully.
