I was watching this thing called Perfect Disaster(something like that) on Discover Channel , the sun could have caused the mass electronic failures...but the people...hmm...

Yea...kinda scary really, the sun could destroy our whole way of life, all electronics that where in use at the time(and possibly other ones) would all just stop working, and what makes it worse is it wouldn't be just that the power went off, but that the satellites would crash, along with plains, any trains, anything using magnets would be messed up(not like fridge magnets). Imagine how many people would die just from that. Then there's the problem of the ozone layer being almost completely destroyed, leaving the world to die of radiation.

You know not everything on TV is true. 6/8ths of the time is all wrong or lies.

True, but it is possible, not saying it will happen, but it could. The science is there, the sun can do something like that. It's quite a thing, without it we die, but it could kill us just the same.

People on TV will tell you any s*** you want to hear. They lie like hell, they will tell you Kojak always gets the killer or no one get's cancer in Uncle Brain's house. And no matter how much trouble the hero is in don't worry just look at your watch: in a half hour he'll win! TV isn't the truth, TV is a god damn amusment park with lion tamers, acrobats, and side show freaks.

    *sigh*

But geomagnetic storms are real, solar coronal mass ejections (CME) are real, and are aslo known as solar flares.

On 13 March 1989 a severe geomagnetic storm caused the collapse of the Hydro-Quebec power grid in a matter of seconds as equipment protection relays tripped in a cascading sequence of events. Six million people were left without power for nine hours, with significant economic loss. The storm even caused auroras as far as Texas. The geomagnetic storm causing this event was itself the result of a Coronal Mass Ejection, ejected from the Sun on March 9, 1989

The sun can cause bigger geomagnetic storms than that, if big enough it could wipe out the worlds power.

The one big geomagnetic storm may tip that off. :/ those who aren't killed and haven't fallen sick form the radiation may start to fight over food and other things...although, disaster can bring people together too.
