The Sanctuary

Victor watched her leave, the warmth of Eva's hug still lingering. He was happy. Two years ago, those words wouldn't dare cross him on the path of sin he took. "Maybe I should check up on the moody cash cow." he mused, thinking of how troublesome their only form of income was. Grabbing a black trench coat and hat, Victor made his way out the door and into the paved walkways of the city.

 

Ren sat inside the restaurant and ordered a drink and immediately took a seat. It was getting dark and most people were heading home. Ren sat there and sighed. He immediately held his head. He could hear many screams in his head. "their deaths still haunt me" Ren said trying to dismiss the screams

 

Eva opened her eyes after a bit, her head spinning. She stumbled over to the window, feeling her bones ache. Gripping the sill with her hands, she noticed some kind of commotion. Making her way down the stairs, she stumbled to the bar, her loose clothes catching on the doorway. Watching. Ren. She tried to stumble back to her house. Daddy wouldn't want her here.

 

Ren held his head for a bit as the screams started to go away. Ren sighed as he closed his eyes and took a sip of his drink. "It's been a while.......Eva" Ren said calmly like always and keeping his eyes closed

 

She grabbed the doorway for support, blinking quickly. Must have a fever or something......"How did you get out? It's been so long...I thought you died with the rest of them."

OOC: I have to go, feel free to leave her. I'll be back tonight anyway.

@ TwilightBlader: lolno? Your scenario's really unrealistic; seeming as how all of the people in the town are Gifts and are mostly able to defend themselves. That and a gang can't exactly claim a restaurant as their own turf.

This roleplay isn't Naruto, either. Please try to avoid random fight scenes, as well as "barrage of punches" and repeating "dodged easily" three times lol. Try to tone it down or at least be a bit more descriptive. Both would be nice.

I don't mean to negate your posts or nitpick or anything. If you can find a way to change your words around or something like that it would be great; otherwise just try to improve your future posts.

By the way...

To avoid time paradoxes, the time in-character when I posted was 3:15-4:00 AM. I dunno what time your posts are at, though.

BIC: Ren opened his eyes and looked at Eva and then took a seat "Me, Seth, and even Elevir all escaped. We all managed to get out before the explosion and then went our separate ways" Ren said and took a sip of his drink with his eyes closed

 

"How is Eleveir anyways? Two years have passed since she parted ways with us."

Victor framed himself in the doorway of his restaruant, pulling his hat over his eyes. Trying to hide his expression of shock at Ren's materialization. If his former subordiate saw how he looked now, Victor would never command the same amount of respect.

"More importantly, how is my establishment serving you at this late hour? I admit, not much profit comes under the moon, but it has a much more tolerable atmosphere. No one is busy being late or in a rush."

 

Ren opened his eyes and looked at his former boss "I haven't seen Elevir nor Seth ever since we went different ways" Ren said and closed his eyes once more "so this is what you have been doing in the past year. I would have never expected you to make a a fast food chain" Ren said almost smiling and then finished off his drink "this drink is not bad " Ren said calmly

 

Victor chuckled softly, a novelty that was quite commonplace lately.

"Without my old business to sustain me, I had to make a new one. I've been trying to save up enough to expand."

His kind smile slowly gave way to his old, sullen features.

"What a cruel twist of fate this is."

BIC: Rea layed in her bed, staring at the ceiling. She sighed to herself as she sat up. Rea glanced over at the small nightstand beside her bed. On it, was her flute, the way she used her so called, 'gift'. She just wanted to destroy the flute and never use her gift again... but as much as she wanted to, she could never bring herself to do it...

 

Eva slowly sat down, still blinking. "So why didn't you try to say something? It's not like I've been hiding this entire time. I thoought you all were dead, I thought you were..." like the ones we heard screaming. She finished out her sentence in her mind.

 

Ren opened his eyes and looked forward "We just hated the fact that we couldn't save everybody.......that all those innocent people had to die while we were the only ones to survive" Ren said and looked up at the ceiling "The sin of not saving them has been haunting me.I can hear the screams of the people I was ordered to kill........and the screams during that fateful day" Ren said as he continued to look at the ceiling with his usual calm attitude

 

"There were no innocents in that building, Ren." Said Victor, his tone heavy and cold. "Not one. Not the children, not the emplyees, not even the vermin that hid in the cracks of walls."

With a tense calm, Victor stepped behind the counter, past the cashier, Grabbed a large paper cup. He stared at it for what felt like an eternity.

"Ren, what would you measure this as? Half full, quarter empty, three fourths full, nine tenths empty?"

Ren crossed his arms and looked at the paper cup that his former boss held. "how am I supposed to know how much is in that cup? From here it just looks empty" Ren calmly said curious to know why Victor would ask him such a question

 

Eva rolled her eyes at the two guys discussing a damned cup, and laid her head on the table. She just wanted to sleep, and for this sick feeling to go away. It had happened ever since Larz....ugh, he was still in her head.

 

"Really?" Victor replied softly. "I believe this cup is completely full." Gently, he placed it on the counter, a hollow tap from when the base hit the surface. "It is full of our accomplishments, our gains, our victories and what we have learned from our mistakes."

 

Ren looked at the director "so what about the sins and failures. What happens to them? are they not included in this cup of yours" Ren said with his usual calm and cool attitude. Looking back from when he was a guard and till now, Ren's attitude hasn't changed much

 

Victor covered his heart.

"Those things cannot be contained in such a vessel. only our souls are able to keep it from spilling out onto the floor and drowning those we love."
