Maya smiled and held Zeliek.

 

"Where do you think you'd be if you didn't find your way to my doorstep?"

 

"Still working for that farmer and his family as a orphan struggling through life."

 

"I think we would have met eventually, but the circumstances would be more...grim."

 

"We'd still be enemies. I'm descended..... from the Great Wizard."

 

"I remember him. He sealed our kind and the angels away."

 

"I remember hearing he fell in love with a angel who accompanied but had sealed her away. So he married a human, and along the way, I was born."

 

"Your ancestor probably wanted you to follow the same path, but here you are with me."

 

"I may be a demon, but I'm still his descendant. Still the only one can stop the demons and angels from fighting."

 

"I don't think there's any way angels will stop fighting with us. They were the ones who started the war."
