Really? I heard that it was based off the story of Cassie Brenall.
She was killed at the Columbine Massacre and (it is highly beleived) that one of the shooters asked her if she beleived in God.
She said yes, and I think you can guess the rest from the way the song goes. : (

Do you have a source for that? It sounds like an interesting tale. It'd be good to read the original story.

There's a book written by her mother (her name escapes me right now) titled "She Said 'Yes'".

I did a few minutes of reading up on the Cassie case, and I've found the true version of events. Cassie was never asked whether she believed in god. The killer yelled "Peekaboo" and shot her. The exchange actually occurred with Valeen Schnurr, who was already shot, and praying out loud. She was asked why she believed, and she said she was raised that way. The killer then loaded the gun and walked away.

I think I prefer that one, from a Christian PoV, because it gives the impression that God protected her, as opposed to the Cassie story, which, as touching as it is, ended with her dead.

    Here's the source.

I actually did research on it by myself and I did notice that it was another girl. I heard Cassie's story before I learned that it wasn't her who was asked. If you look at her life, she was a messed up teenager, but as the story goes, she gave her life to God about a year before her death. This is from a Christian POV; I liked the story of Cassie better because it's about martyrdom, and I find it exciting to die for your beliefs. To me, that's kind of how I'd like to go; saying that I do beleive and love God, showing and undoubting faith. Loving something so much that you would die for it.
