    What I mean is that you see them as random because you do not see the subtlety. What you consider deep and subtle in your music probably does not appear so to her, while the music she is quoting does. I postulate that this is because her music taste is more complex; that her definition of deep is at a higher bar.

    That might come off as insulting to you, but not everyone who thinks that they listen to very deep stuff will be comparatively right. Hers seems random to you, while yours probably seems simple to her. That means it is probably too complex for you to appreciate at this time. If you simply had different taste but understood the depth, it wouldn't seem random, it would just be deep in a direction you did not prefer.

    As a disclaimer, I have never listened to the band she is talking about. I am taking from this conversation.
