"It's not entirely her fault, Tristan," Eleanor began quietly, though she kept her eyes on the ground. "Don't be angry with her."

 

She's questioning your authority over Nas. said the voice in Tristan's head. Slap her.
Tristan rose from his spot and took a few steps towards Eleanor, before coming to a halt.
What are you doing? I told you to hit her.
Tristan did nothing.
I order you to punch her.
Tristan placed a hand on his forehead.
Kill her.
"No." Whispered Tristan.
The voice laughed mockingly. No? Tristan, Tristan, Tristan. You really need to learn how to have fun. Go ahead, rip her hair out. Cut off her tongue. Pull her arms from her sockets. Peel the flesh from her-
"STOP IT!" Tristan yelled.

 

"What's the matter with you?" Eleanor asked, taking a step back from Tristan, shocked. "Stop what, Tristan?"

 

Lanan jumped and started walking towards Tristan, surprised at his outbreak. Tristan always seemed cool and collected. "Tristan? What's wrong?" he asked the prince, cocking an eyebrow.


Ruby watched Tristan curiously with a sly smile. Her interest was peaked. The noble prince was breaking.

Reaching the dungeons, Ras'tepa nodded at the guards and quickly gestured them to leave, which they did reluctantly. He smirked. They knew better to question his orders. Inside his mind, he felt the King's disgust towards the thought and a mumbled mental sentence about a King's respect. Walking past the cells, he could ignored the jeers of the prisoners. Some of them were the old council members. He finally stopped at the second to last cell on the right and saw a girl. "So what's so special about you?" He asked cryptically, although he wasn't asking her directly.

Reaching the edge of Quel, Azazel stopped. He could sense an ominous feeling in the distance. Whatever it was made him uneasy. "Let's stop here for now," he told Alira.

Walking through the camp, Zuiden yelled Karchit's name. All around him, bloody bodies littered the ground, but only a handful were Lizards. He was disgusted that his men couldn't put up a better fight, even against the surprise at overwhelming odds. They deserved to be massacred if they were THIS week! He thought angrily as he stopped in front of a squirming Lizard. A large dagger was sticking out of his back and the Lizard couldn't reach it. Noticing Zuiden and recognizing him as the Karchit's new ally, the Lizard made a gurgled hissing sound and pleaded, "Help me!" as he struggled to get on his knees. "Hmph," Zuiden smirked as he raised a leg and kicked the Lizard in the chest, knocking backwards. The ground pushed the dagger through the Lizard's flesh and came out of his stomach. Zuiden scowled the reptile as the life left his eyes and continued walking.

Whisk followed Zuiden, his tail wrapped around his staff, holding it. He stopped and knelt down by the Lizard, eyeing it with a curious smile. "Poor thing," he said cheerfully as he stood back up, stepping on the Lizard's chest as he literally walked over it. His ear's twitched as Zuiden yelled Karchit's name again.

 

Laughter echoed inside Tristan's head. The laugh sounded familiar, but where was it from? Tristan held his left hand against the sewer wall in order to help keep his balance. "I'm sorry. I'm just a little worn out from the past few days."
Ha! Lair! came the voice.
Who are you? Tristan thought to himself.
I'm the one who's going to break you.
Tristan's eyes widened in surprise. He wasn't expecting a reply. He then decided that it may be best to alter the question. What are you?
Ooooo curious, are we?
Answer me.
If you kill the girl, then you might just get the answer to your question.
ANSWER ME! Tristan screamed into the depths of his mind, but instead of getting his answer, he was bombarded, by the voice, from every corner of mind.
Kill her!
Pluck her eyes out!
Slice off her head!
Murder her!
Burn her!
Rip her heart out!
Cut off her ears!
Break her fingers!
Chop her to bits!
Skewer her!
Iron her Hands!
"Stop it!" Tristan whispered.
The voice merely laughed and began to mock him.

I SAID STOP IT! Tristan roared into his head.
The voice's laughter echoed in his head, slowly fading away.
Tristan fell to his knees, sweat dripping from his face. He had just become aware of how heavy his breaths were.

Karchit was leaning against a tree when he saw Zuiden kick the dieing lizard. Karchit sneered, but not because Zuiden killed the lizard, but because of the company that he had with him. "A cat." Karchit said flatly. "Your companion is a cat."

 

Lanan looked around at everyone else. He wasn't sure how to react to what was going on. He put a hand on Tristan's shoulder. "Tristan?"

Ruby kept watching Tristan. Isss he going insssane?

Zuiden laughed at Karchit's comment before replying simply, "I'm fond of cats." But Whisk is a lion, he added to himself. "Karchit, this is Whisk, my most loyal soldier."

Smiling a smile that bared his unusually large fangs, Whisk tilted his head and said, "It's a pleasure," rather politely.

 

Karchit stared the cat up and down. His claws were itching to rip that cat's head from his neck. "Tsk" was all that came form Karchit's mouth before he straightened his posture and headed back to his army. "I hate cats." he muttered under his breath.

"Just go." Tristan said in an exhausted voice. "We need to make preparations."

 

Falling in step behind Karchit, Zuiden was about to say something when Whisk interrupted him with a comment that caught Zuiden off guard, something that was never done before:

"That makes two of us," Whisk said, still smiling, "But then again, I hate all species just the same." He said it cheerfully, as if it should have been a known fact. "Except for those mutts," he spit the word out, without faltering his smile, referring to the Wolf Clan.

 

"Go?" Eleanor repeated, immediately kneeling next to Tristan. "No one's going anywhere with the state you're in. There's only one person you can order around here, but as for the rest of us, we are in this together. I... I thought you said you were feeling better."

 

"I'm fine!" Tristan said in a harsher tone than he would have liked. Tristan took a moment to calm himself. "Listen. My father probably already knows I'm here, and if not, the he will soon. We don't have time to worry about petty things. We must take action."

"How cute." Karchit said with more than a hint of sarcasm. "You just won a special place in my heart. Would you like some cookies and milk now as a sign of good will?"

 

Eleanor frowned and clenched her fists again; she was starting to dig holes in her palms, almost breaking the skin.

"Fine," she snapped, standing up and leaning against the wall farther away. "Whatever you say, Master Tristan."

 

Lanan looked at Eleanor and then at Tristan. He couldn't help but agree. They didn't have a lot of time, but still, "I agree with her, Tristan. It would be easier to fight your father's whole army and possibly even Demons if we're fine then to carry out this operation of yours while having problems with ourselves." He looked at Ruby who sped to his side. "However, time is short. So we do need to do this, but you might have to take an backseat to this."

Whisk smile widened for a quick instance and then disappeared, hiding his fangs. "Cookies and milk? I prefer Lizard flesh," he responded.

"Whisk, that's enough," Zuiden said. Even though he knew Whisk wasn't provoking Karchit and that he really did have a taste for Lizards, he wanted to avoid any unnecessary fighting. "So, Karchit," He turned his head back to the Lizard general. "I let you massacre my men, I even killed one of them myself, I was attacked by someone and encountered someone who could teleport instantly before his....untimely death. Have we come to an allegiance?"

 

Nas glared at Tristan. Without thinking, A wave of sewer water rose up and rushed at Tristan. Nas took care to make sure that Tristan was the only one who got wet.

The foul smelling water splashed over him. It surprised him so much that he accidentally swallowed some too. Tristan coughed up some water. He had a nasty taste in his mouth.
Tristan gazed up at Nas. "Hey!" he said in-between coughs. "What was that for? I'm supposed to be your mas-"

"I AM NOT YOUR TOOL!" Nas screamed. She was shaking. she had never done that to one of her masters before. "I'm not your tool, and-" Nas hesitated "And neither are these people."

Tristan was stunned. He didn't know what to say.

"I don't want a master who acts like this." Nas turned her back on Tristan and walked away.

Tristan was still to shocked to stop her.

 

Eleanor gagged at the smell and clamped the cloth on her mouth closer to her face, the fact that the water had churned making the entire sewer seem to smell even worse.

"Hey, Nas!" she managed to choke after a moment. "Don't leave; we need your help... please."

She stopped, surprised that she had used that last word with the Summon, knowing very well they didn't like each other at all.

 

"I can't leave." She said before disappearing into the darkness. "A summon's bond is absolute." she said sadly.

Lanan's hand flew towards his face, his nose was literally hurting with the stink. "What the-?" He said as the water next to him rose quickly as Ruby disappeared.

Ruby followed Naserrea, not letting her out of her sight. "Where are you going, rat?" Her expression was stone serious and, for once, she didn't "rat" with any ill will.

Covering his nose, Lanan looked at Naserrea. Controls water?? He gasped as everything came together in his mind.

 

OOC: lol she's been in school and our home desktop has that evil virus still so... sigh... shes in the same boat as dean right now: posting only with her little free time at school... sucks, huh?

BIC: Eleanor shrugged. "I meant don't get angry when we need to be together here. Tristan obviously has a problem he doesn't want to trust us with. It's something in your mind," she added suddenly, turning sharply to look at Tristan. "Something eating at your conscious, maybe, an ill thought or emotion that you don't want to share because you think it'll hurt others... I can see the look on your face, you know."

 

"I need some time away from my master, worm." She said while pushing past Rubira. She wasn't planning on leaving the sewers. she just needed to get away from.... from him.

Tristan ignored the comment. his bandages had gotten wet. His wounds stung from the nasty water. "Great. Just fabulous." Tristan muttered while wincing from the pain.

 

Eleanor sighed, slowly unclenching her fists. Facial expressions, she thought. That's the first thing you taught me, mother, wasn't it? When the heart wants to speak but the mind and mouth won't let it, look to the face. There you will find truth reflected in a rippling pool... your words exactly, I remember...

"Here," she started aloud, stepping over to Tristan and putting out a hand. "Let me fix that... there's still medicine in the bag."

 

Tristan glanced up at Eleanor and sighed. "I'm sorry everybody. I'm just a tad grouchy. I didn't get much sleep last night."
