Ruby looked at Lanan, who had raised an eyebrow to her. "The rat and I shall scout the area, you and the kitten will buy supplies for the prince, princess, and that other girl," she filled him in.

"Oh, I see," he said, nodding once towards her, still lost in thought somewhat.

Ruby frowned and ran to Naserrea, "Shall we leave, rat?"

 

"Whatever you say, worm." said Nas. And without another word, she climbed out of the sewers.

 

Ruby smirked and followed Naserrea wordlessly, out of the sewers.

Snapping out of his thoughts, Lanan stood up and walked towards Eleanor, giving Sameire and Tristan some privacy. He motioned for her to come closer. "How's he doing?" He asked, gesturing towards Tristan.

 

Eleanor smiled lightly. "I honestly don't care right now," she began. "But physically? He'll be fine with the way I treated his wounds with the medicine I found. Though cutting off his damn tattoo of is wasn't the smartest idea."

 

Wow, she's really mad at him, Lanan thought, smiling back. But I guess I can't blame her... He took his gaze of Tristan and sat down, wrinkling his nose, "I guess we're all stressed right now, you know? We're either fighting Demons, running away from our father who just happens to be a King and may be a Demon, or ancient creatures," He avoided saying the word goddess, "who are strong enough to fight Demons." He then realized something and raised an eyebrow. "What about you? What's your story?"

 

Eleanor sighed. She didn't really want to share anything with anyone that she didn't have to, but for some reason, she didn't really have a problem with responding:

"Just a mercenary, really. I think it's been fate that I've been stuck into this mess here... I happened to be finishing a job in the same town as Tristan, and someone told me he had a lot of money and needed protection. He hired me, just like any other job I've done, usually easily with my telekineses. I knew who he was, but it seems I'm into something a lot bigger than I imagined."

She paused, running a hand through her short, silver hair. She gave Lanan a look. "Demons, huh?" she added. "You don't seem to know much about what exactly we're getting into, either."

 

Gemini listened to the various conversations, biting her bottom lip slightly. She planned to have Lanan explain exactly what was going on when they went above for supplies.

 

Lanan thought for a second; when he met Tristan in Triwn, he didn't have any company. He then realize that must be the town she was referring to. "Oh, in Triwn? Yeah, that's where I met him, too." He closed his eyes for a bit longer than a standard blink before continuing, "No, you're right. I have absolutely no idea. I'm just a stray Cylian-wolf Crossbreed. I went through Ilianam before meeting Tristan in Triwn and when I saw how....damaged the country was, I figured the King was corrupt and just a stupid human." He lowered his gaze and stared at his hand, "Then after the whole Lizard raids incident in Triwn, I was attacked by a monster. Nothing I could do would damage him. I managed once to blast his shoulder open and it just healed in front of my eyes. I knew I was going to die, but then out of nowhere, Ruby appeared and started talking all this nonsense about Demons and Summons. She fought the Demon, who tried to convince her to join their side again, but she remained loyal to me; The bonds of Summons are pretty strong apparently." He stopped and let out a sigh, looking towards the spot where Ruby left, "That's how I found out the War was real, but I was still in disbelief, until I got attacked again! This time by two of them! Well, not two exactly..." He made a mental note to explain about Ekaf later, "I managed to escape, leaving a destroyed town behind....then after meeting Gemini, I got attacked again and the one called Ekaf told me to...join the King of Ilianam." He looked at Eleanor, wondering if he should tell her about the offer: Join or Melkine will be massacred. He decided against it.

"Anyways, before that last attack, I remembered Tristan. Something about him made me think he could use this information better than I could....but that last attack convinced me that I had to do something, so here I am. A stray with a mission."

 

Eleanor frowned, taking in all the information. "Sounds like we're a bit alike in that last part," she started with a smile. "I'm not backing out, though, you know, even if I'm in way over my head. I'm sticking with the job no matter what."

 

Lanan nodded and then cocked an eyebrow at her, "So even though you have no experience with Demons," He paused for a moment, he realized he was saying Demons like it was a regular household term. The thought made him frown for an instant, but it faded and he continued, "You're going to fight them?"

 

Eleanor laughed lightly and gave Lanan a wink. "How hard can it be? You've never seen a crossbreed that's an expert Telekinetic, have you?"

 

Lanan couldn't help but laugh. He was glad the mood lightened a little bit. "No, I have not. But I gotta say, a telekinetic crossbreed? That's every Demon's worst nightmare."

 

Eleanor bit her lower lip. "Are you serious?" she smiled. "I can't tell."

 

Leaning back against the wall of the sewer, Lanan grinned at her, "Oh yes, especially ones like you," he joked, "You're just so frightening."

 

Eleanor rolled her eyes. "Oh, I can tell you're shaking," she replied with a wink. "Most do."

 

"I'm disguising my fear," Lanan laughed, "You can't tell, but I'm a whimpering puppy inside!"

 

"Well, isn't that cute?" Eleanor replied. "I can't say I've ever had that particular reaction before."
