"Hm, I see," Lanan replied. "Did your mom have any special...beliefs about the War? Like certain Gods? Or any kind of religion at all?"

 

Eleanor shook her head. "Nothing but basic Nature gods... none of which I prayed to or devoted time to like my mother. I strayed from her teachings a lot, wanting to... well... I wanted to impress my human father more than anything, just because he was the one that saw me as of little importance or success."

 

Lanan gave her a sympathetic look. "I know what you mean. I always wanted to impress my father, but not for the same reason as you...what I'm getting at is...I'm 100% sure that Naserrea is the goddess of nature my father's tribe believed in. I never believed in that myself. I was always more Wolf than Cylian, but still...it's quite a shock."

 

"I see," Eleanor said, surprised she had said as much as she did. "I'd like to support your theory, but... I can't remember anything to back it up from my childhood."

She paused and laughed. "What would my father say if he saw my now, the mess I'm stuck for some money? A mentally-unstable ex-prince I'm supposed to be protecting, but how am I going to save him from himself if he won't let me what's wrong?"

She was shocked that her troubled thoughts from earlier were coming from her mouth, but for some reason she didn't stop them. "I... thought it would be easy, but all I hear is my father's voice in my head saying he loved my mother but never wanted a child, a mistake of creation that couldn't amount to anything, a waste of time and effort. He always said it was my fault I couldn't inherit anything good enough, though I wanted to blame him. None of my mother's traits or powers except a weak telekinetic link that took years to perfect... and now, what good is it?"

She folded her arms and lowered her head. What's wrong with me, talking like this?

 

"Oh," Lanan said sadly. He wasn't expecting the conversation to take an emotional turn, "I'm...sorry. I'm not going to lie and say I know how you feel. My father loved both me and my mother, in fact, he was killed for that "forbidden love". I actually wish I inherited more from him than I did from her. I'm proud of my Wolf side, but the only link I have to my father is my Wind Molding, which I can't even master to the extent that he did. He saw the good in everyone and yet I see the bad in everyone. He was civilized, I'm...wild. And yet, I take pride in being more Wolf than Cylian...I try to be one or the other while being both at the same time," He took a step towards her, unsure if he should put his arms around her or how to comfort her and instead just laid a hand on her shoulder. "Instead, I realized that I'm not neither my father's Cylian son or my mom's pup, I'm both of their Crossbreed. I embrace everything they gave me, no matter how little. I guess what I"m trying to say is," he attempted a crooked smile, "Live your life for you, not your parents. You are who you are, no one else. Take pride in that. Your father looks down on you? Well so what? My father's whole damn tribe looked down on me along with my mom's pack and I use their feelings toward me to better myself, not to hold me back. Be proud of who you are, Eleanor," he finished, his smile keeping form.

 

Eleanor put a hand to her forehead, pushing on her right temple. "Yeah..." she whispered, her voice a barely audible sigh. "I guess you're right. I... I can't believe I told you a word of my past... it's not like me."

 

Lanan let his hand slide of her shoulder, smiling still, "It's alright. I told you more than I usually would as well." He turned around and neared the wall again, leaning against it and slowly sliding down. "We're dwelling too much on the past," he said aloud, anxious to start the mission.

 

Lauren looked at the king, what did he want with her she thought. "I am Lauren Clark, a Mercenary from Arnum, I am looking for a monster that looks like a Demon from the old legends. Apparently I can block her attacks with out any training" she said, his answer would tell her what he was up to.

"Understood sir, thelast she told me, he had met up with Tristan. I will find some where in the ruins to wait for now, until then sir, I will take my leave" she said. She was worried, anything that made Azazel uneasy, was a threat.

 

Ras'tepa smirked. "I see," was all he said. He eyed her up and down. "You must be quite the warrior," he mumbled to himself. She's an interesting girl, don't you think, Kingy? He asked Bryne. Getting no response, he kept looking at the girl. She didn't look like anything special.

"Go ahead," Azazel said as he stabbed End Game in the ground and sat in front of it, leaning back on its blade.

 

Lauren had been picklocking the chains, she freed her self. pulled out a hidden Knife and stabbed the King. "You have the same pressence as she did, your the same as she is" she said, struggling to sink the knife in further.

The King looked down at his side, where she stabbed him. She had barely missed his kidney. "You have courage, girl," he said. His face didn't change as he grabbed her arm and pulled as hard as he could, slamming her into the bars between them. He then grabbed her knife and pulled it out of his stomach, throwing it into the cell. "There's your blade. Next time, try harder." He said as he turned around. Ras'tepa didn't feel the cut. He could feel the blood pouring out, but it was nothing. It would heal soon. That was an effect of the parasite. As long as it wasn't a vital organ that was hurt, his host's body was in no harm. He could already feel the wound closing. Maybe I can use her... he thought as he left the dungeons.

 

Lauren collapsed to the ground crying, before she realized that he hadn't locked the doors. She grabbed her knife and walked out, there was one guard walking towards the dungeon, she hid behind a suit of armour, when he walked ast, she cut his throat. She grabbed the guards sword and went further into the castle.

 

"The past is important as well, though," Eleanor said after a moment, her fingertips drifting subconsciously to her knife hilts again. "Dwelling on it is necessary sometimes, lest we forget it. Even if it's... painful."

 

"That's true," Lanan said, mimicking her. He had raised his left hand and stared at the gauntlet that covered it. He always felt naked without his crossbow on his hand. He remembered when he had gotten it: During the incident with the wolves that killed his dad, he had gotten bit on his forearm. He had asked a Steel-molder to make him a gauntlet to cover up the wound so it wouldn't be a weakness in battle. After the wound healed, he had that same Cylian attach the crossbow. It had now felt as if it was his left hand. He let it drop, smiling as the metal clanked against the floor. "The past...now...and what has yet to come. All of these raise questions in my head..."

 

"Tell me about it," Eleanor laughed neutrally. "Hey, can I ask you something?" she added in a lower voice.

 

Lanan raised his head to look at her curiously. When people asked if they can ask a question, the question was either personal or something you didn't want to think about, nonetheless, "Go ahead," he told her.

 

Eleanor sighed and slid down the wall to sit next to Lanan. "What do you really think about Tristan?" she whispered. "Can you tell there's something wrong with him?"

 

Leaning his head against the wall, Lanan closed his eyes. "Tristan made a hell of an impression on me when we first met. He just seemed like a natural born leader. Plus the fact that he was a Shaper seemed to make him even more different. It was for that reason I figured he should know about the War. And then I find out he's a prince? And has his own Summon? Yeah, he's definitely something special. But," He held back the sigh that was building up and watched Tristan from the corner of his eye, "Something is wrong with him. I...I don't know what it was, but when he approached you earlier, I sensed some kind...murderous intent. There's something going on in his head, but I don't know what..."

 

Eleanor turned her head to look at Lanan. "You can tell, too?" she asked quietly. "I mean, something wrong in his head, that's exactly what I thought! His facial expressions, which I'm pretty good at reading, give out some scary impressions. How am I supposed to help him with a mental battle he won't tell me about?"

 

"I don't know," Lanan said bluntly, looking at her, "But if something happens, we're here. We can help him, even if he doesn't let us. We'll just have to try harder, then, won't we?" He finished with a smile.
