The world of Laifel

Saclem stared out of one of the castle's north windows. Fire rained down from the sky setting buildings alight. Saclem knew they were really arrows lit in flame, but from this distance, it just looked like it was raining fire. He had just been informed that the army had surrounded the kingdom. The situation looked grim.
Saclem looked away from the window and stared at the tapestry on the wall behind him instead. It pictured an image of an ancient war.

"Interesting work of art, isn't it my liege?"

Saclem nearly jumped in surprise. He looked to his left to find a Biffem staring at the tapestry as well.
"Yes, it is indeed." Saclem agreed.

Biffem was still staring at the tapestry. "The soldiers think that we are all going to die. What do you think?"

"I think...." said Saclem slowly, "I think that I have another job for you, Biffem."

"And what might that be?" said Biffem while still staring at the tapestry.

Saclem began to approach the tapestry. He took another glance at it before tearing it down.

Biffem just stared. His expression unchanging.

Saclem began feeling the wall. finally he stopped and pulled out a loose brick. Behind the brick was a Keyhole. Saclem frowned at it before pulling out a key. "Behind this wall lies a secret room that holds an ancient treasure. Your job will be to take it and run. You must not let anyone have it. You are my most loyal servant, Biffem. I trust you to perform your job with excellence."

Biffem nodded. "You can count on me, Sire."

Saclem nodded and inserted the key. He then turned the key and then let go of it. A section of the wall, to the king's left, slid beneath the floor.

Biffem grabbed a nearby torch. "Allow me to lead the way, Sire. We have no way of knowing what is in there." Biffem waited for Saclem to nod before entering the passage way, with Saclem following close behind him.

 

"Ah, well that’s good" Eve said as the fire began to start.
It was never easy for him to start a fire, but he always had to tell himself about what good fire can do.
"It’s funny, fire, one of the most destructive elements of them all. Its hands can grasp the ones you love in an instant as if they were a piece of firewood, yet it has the warmest touch on a cold winter’s night." Eve said romantically as he looked at Kurt. “It kind of reminds me love.” Eve then let out a cute giggle.
There was a pause, and Eve blushed.
“Listen to me babbling on about fire. So what are you doing all the way up here in the Faeyland?" Eve asked as he poked the fire.

 

Kurt couldn't help raise an eyebrow at the man's reaction. That Cylian sure had a thing for awkward situations. First, for making friends my trapping them, then, by talking of the most inappropriate things.
Despite the situation, which made Kurt smile, he reminded himself that Demoir is in turmoil, and he must keep his seriousness.

"I am going to Ilianam. You guessed that it's not any ordinary travel? I want to be discreet ; that's why I'm moving through this ravaged forest."

He paused for a few seconds, patting Flame Burst.

"Interesting thing you point out with fire. Fire made us evolve, but did you see how dangerous it can be? Look at all the ash..."

Suddenly realizing something, he said :

"That resumes my reasons to be here. But what about you? You said you're the prince of plant molders, or something around those lines? I bet it's you who's responsible for this patch of living vegetation."

 

Gemini walked though the town, her head turning every which way to see everything. She kept an eye out for the inn but was distracted by people to the point of running into most of them.

 

"Yeah that’s right." He said still looking into the fire "Unfortunately I have barley anything to rule over now, because of the…” Eve stopped in mid sentence.

 

Kurt's first thought, when Eve stopped in mid-sentence, were that someone was approaching. He quickly looked around him, but, seeing no one, asked Eve :
"What's wrong? Did you hear something?"

"Take this, you freaks!" yelled Lythorne as he slashed both a Leecher and a Lizard at once. He, among with many humans, had fled the battle at Quel, but some of the enemies pursued them.

They defeated the little force that followed them, and were now searching the outskirts of Quel, finding more runaway humans, as well as Lizards and Leechers following them.

Lythorne killed the Lizards, but the Leecher endured the hit, and punched Lythorne in the stomach. He flew backwards. As he got up, however, another warrior decapitated the Leecher. They had won yet another small battle...
... but the outcome of the war was looking grim!


OOC : Hey Double Z, what happened to Quel? Is it completely razed, or just in ruin? Are there any Lizards and Leechers still there, or surviving humans?

 

"No, I didn't hear anything" Eve said.
He seems so nervous.

 

"In that case, what happened? You suddenly stopped talking for no reason. Also, I think the fire's getting good enough."

Kurt felt intrusive, but he was used to it. Like Trenyan, he sometimes had to ask Cylians many questions, hoping to learn something about the secret war which destroyed their village, long ago.
But Kurt wasn't feeling like asking this Cylian about it. Unless, of course, if he shows signs of knowing something...

 

"My village was burned to the ground by f-f-fire molders when I was 250." Eve said.
Wait fire molders?! I thought they died in a wildfire! But suddenly I remember fire molders burning it down instead!

 

After a few seconds of silence, Kurt thought :
Now you've got my attention. Interesting in more ways than one, isn't it... an identical past, yet he's a pure Cylian...

He said :
"Oh. My apologies for having asked... but I'd like to say that you're not alone. My own home was destroyed in similar fashion, long time ago..."

Kurt asked himself if this man wasn't part of his old village. That village had been destroyed actually recently, 39 years ago. Eve's village was burned when he was 250... which could mean anytime, since Kurt had no idea what was Eve's age.
Thus, he added :
"How many years ago was your home destroyed, if I'm not pushing you too far?"



OOC : Your profile says Eve is 475 years old, so his village was destroyed 225 years ago. So yeah, Kurt is wrong, because his village got burned 39 years ago.

 

"No, no I am fine. My village was burned down 225 years ago, and it has never been the same." Eve said in a kind of depressed tone. "Wait your village was burned down too?" Eve asked as if it was unbelievable that someone else faced what he did.

 

OOC: Quel is in ruins and right now, nobody is there.

BIC: "General Kellington!"

Kellington turned to find a soldier coming towards him. He was escorting a Wolf... or was it a crossbreed? Kellington looked over the crossbreed with irritation. He then fixed his gaze back on the soldier. "What is it?"

"This Crossbreed wishes to speak with you." Answered the soldier.

"I'm a little busy at the moment...." Said Kellington.

Biffem stared at the dull glowing crystal in wonder. It lay on top of a pedestal, in the middle of the secret chamber.
"This is what you require me to look after?" asked Biffem curiously.

"It is." was all the King had to say.

Biffem went to take the Crystal from the pedestal. He turned it over a few times, in his hands, before walking back towards the king.

"Let me see it." Said Saclem.

Biffem gazed at it a moment longer before handing over to the king.

Saclem took the crystal and examined it. He then began to grin. Slowly he looked up at Biffem. "Thank you, Biffem." Said Saclem still grinning.

"You're wel-" Biffem stopped in mid-sentence. There was a sharp pain in the center of his chest. Biffem looked down to see that he had been stabbed with a dagger. Biffem stared at his king, in disbelief, before falling to his knees.

OOC: Surprise! Surprise! bet you didn't see that one coming. Heh heh heh.

 

Kurt felt he could trust this Cylian. He once hated the entire pure breed Cylian race, after his home was destroyed, but now, things were different.

"It did. And in horrible circumstances... it was attacked. By Cylians. They made war to us, and we fought with all our strength... but they were determined to exterminate us."

He realized that he acted strangely while talking about the secret war. Even his annoying habit of ending all statements with a question didn't pop up.

In Kurt's mind, a few images flashed. Trenyan running to him... saying that one of the enemy soldiers he slain, was his own mother... a friend of Kurt incinerated by a Lightning Molder... Kurt himself, slashing through warriors and Molders alike, certain that he would die any given second...
But then, he took control of his mind, forbidding himself to be tormented. That was the past.

"It happened 39 years ago, though. Not the same time as you."

He asked himself if he didn't go too far by saying that last detail.

Trenyan knew that the man was a more influential general. The way the soldiers addressed him was enough proof.
Trenyan used all his mind to focus on his plan, trying to forget his inner rage.
"I am humbly sorry for this inconvenience. But I have been asked, by the crowd, to come here, because I had the strength to... convince your guards.
The people are tired of being ignored by the guards. A few men lead them, and they want to speak to the generals that are responsible for Cheslidair's defense. Once again, sorry to intrude like this."


OOC : If you have no idea what Trenyan's talking about, good, because he's making it all up.

 

"But it sounds just like mine." Eve said as he walked over to Kurt.
"Maybe" Eve said “The people who burned down your village were the same people who burnt down mine. Did anyone else survive from your village survive?” Eve said as he took a seat right next to Kurt.

 

As Kurt took a chunk of meat from his bag, attracting Flame Burst's attention, he said :
"Yes, there has been other survivors. But I don't think our villages lived the same end for the same reasons.
You see, my village was resented... because all those despised from society lived there. I was there, because my hometown had a very strict "purebred Cylians only" rule, and I am half human."

 

"I'm sorry.... Cheslidair's defenses?" Kellington clenched his fists. "You called this a defense?! THIS IS NO DEFENSE! This, here, is suicide!" Kellington couldn't hold it in anymore. "DAMN HIM! What was he thinking! He has doomed us all!"

Saclem's grin deepen. "Thank you, Biffem." Saclem repeated. "Thank you for being the gullible idiot that you are."

Biffem was in shock. "Why?" he asked in a voice just above a whisper.

Saclem's skin and eyes began to melt. "How pathetic you humans are to so blindly follow your king's orders."

Biffem's eyes widened with fear.

Saclem's teeth turned into fangs. "To so blindly follow orders that were, obviously, suicidal."

Biffem's eyes began to dull. He could feel his strength leaving him.

Horns sprouted from Saclem's head. "To so blindly follow the orders from a king, who has long been dead."

Biffem dropped the torch in his hand.

Saclem's voice became Demonic. It was a voice that shook you to the bone. "To even follow the orders of a Demon."

Biffem fell face flat on the floor, dead.

The Demon chuckled to himself. "You humans truly are pathetic."

 

Trenyan was shocked, but he hid his rection.
What does he mean? He definitely is the top general. The one the soldiers spoke of ; the one the King asks for advice. But he says it's not him who planned the "defenses"...
Thinking very quickly, Trenyan decided to say :

"That is what the crowd's leaders want to talk about. But they want to talk to the one who thought up this plan. Who is it?"

 

"It was Saclem!" Kellington growled. "Saclem, our 'beloved' King."
Kellington began ranting again. "Why bother even asking me for advice if you are just going to turn it down and come up with a plan that is completely idiotic? And then you refused to listen to my protests. Damn you, Yefian! Damn you! You've doomed your country! I warned you when the lizards began their raids. But you didn't lift a finger! Baflee has become another Ilianam!"

Background (Go into detail please! The more, the better!)- Nevirz was born in the Demonic Realm and was freed when the first crystal broke. Since then he has been hiding among the humans in Baflee.
Since the moment he was free, he sought a way to free his brethren. After a month of research he learned about the legend of the Crystal Seals. Upon learning this he devised a plan. He visited the King of Baflee and kidnapped him. He then tortured the king to gain information on the legend and on the King himself.
The King, Saclem, tried to resist at first, but it didn’t take long for Nevirz to break Saclem. Saclem told him everything including the location of one of the crystals. Having no more use for the king, Nevirz killed Saclem.
Saclem told Nevirz that an enchantment had been placed on the Crystal. It could only be held by a human unless the human gave it to something else willingly. The one thing that Saclem didn’t tell Nevirz was that he needed a key to unlock the secret passage.
Without the key, Nevirz was unable to open the chamber. So he disguised himself as the Saclem and patiently searched for it. Finally he found the key, allowing him to unlock the chamber. Which brings us to the here and now.
Appearance- Looks like a muscular human with horns and fangs as well as no skin and eyes.


Nevirz stared at the Crystal in his hand. he had waited too long for this. Holding the Crystal in both hands, Nevirz shattered the Crystal to bits. Upon breaking, A shock wave spread throughout the land.

Far away, all across the land of Demoir, Rifts to the Demonic Relm opened. Some lasted for a second, others, little more than a minute. Out of those rifts came some new Demons, And something else...............

The Angelens all agreed that now was the time to act. A new war was beginning, and It's first battle was to be fought in the City of Cheslidair.

OOC: Okay people! We need two new Angelens of the non Angel class.

 

"Oh, I am so sorry for what they did your village. Is there anything I can do to make you feel better?" Eve asked in a concerned tone.

 

Kurt was surprised at what the thought. Obviously, the man he was talking to had a great talent at being peaceful, and calming others. Kurt pondered whether his idea was good or not, but he decided to say it :

"There is one thing you could do to make me feel better... it's to make sure that no other village ever ends up like ours.
I have no idea if the Cylians that destroyed your village are the same ones that destroyed mine. If that's so, then it means that they kept their hostile intentions all that time, and probably still today, you understand?

But I'm off topic. Here's what I propose :
Travel with me. I will have a few things to explain on the way... I have to find someone, for that person can probably stop the turmoil that is devastating Demoir. Are you interested?"



Kurt hoped he hadn't talked too quickly, and looked at the Cylian. But something else attracted his attention. He felt a strange feeling... and suddenly, a shock wave came from the south, and passed right through them!
