The world of Laifel

Lanan turned his head to see Gemini right at his tail, which he was wagging as he ran. The moment they left the forest, he made a sharp turn away from Edelsteen towards the next turn. All of a sudden, a deer came out of the forest as well and he remembered his hunger. He had ignored his stomach's growling. He Molded a gust of Wind under his paws and flew at the deer, snapping its neck as he tackled it. "Hungry?" he asked Gemini.

 

Gemini came to a halt just before running into Lanan and skipped backwards to give him and the dead animal room. "A bit, yes." she answered as she got her breath back. She was still hyped up on the run and was grinning still.

 

Lanan saw her grinning and couldn't help but grin back. "Well, we need to make a fire...I don't mind the meat raw, but I would prefer it cooked. If you look for firewood, I'll skin the deer. Deal?" He asked as pulled out a dagger he had kept hidden in his pouch. The dagger was solely for skinning out food. It took too long to use his claws.

 

"Deal. I hate skinning things anyway." Gemini leapt off, snagging firewood as she went.

 

Lanan watched her leap away. The Cat Clan really was graceful. He held the knife tightly in his right hand, the deer's head in his left, and started cutting away it's neck before moving on to its legs. He held it up by the tail and let the blood drain into a puddle. The smell of blood made his nose wiggle and put a frown on his face.

 

Soon Gemini had a good pile of wood in her arms and ran back, following the smell of blood to find him. She set to work making a fire. She hadn't eaten since the night before so glad he'd caught the deer.

 

Lanan smiled at Gemini as she started on the fire. He had just finished draining all the blood and started skinning the fur off the deer. Soon, he would be enjoying a nice meal.

 

Gemini was bent down trying to prod the fire into going when a spark poped up and landed on her ear. She hissed and sat straight up, rubbing where she'd been burned. Sighing she watched as the fire got itself going before turning to Lanan. "Fire's ready. How's the meat?" she asked, still holding her ear.

 

Lanan burst out laughing when Gemini was burnt. He finished skinning the meat and said, "Ready." He stood up and looked around. He couldn't find a way to roast the deer over the fire. HE then thought of something and used Wind to make the meat float and roll over the fire. It took concentration, but at least it worked. He sat down next to Gemini, his eyes focused on the meat, and started talking, "It'll be ready soon. How's your ear?" He couldn't resist saying the last part with a chuckle.

 

Gemini rubbed her ear experiemtally, trying not to laugh too. It did seem pretty stupid to get burned on the ear. "It's fine. Ah, that smells good already." she watched the meat cooking, suddenly glad she wasn't in town having to eat whatever was in a market place. Fresh food was much better she guessed, although she didn't really get a chance to try it.

 

Lanan wiggled his nose as he smelled the meat. The aroma had made him forget about the stench of the blood. "I guess it's ready," he said, tired of waiting. He floated the meat between him and Gemini and let it drop. Taking his knife, he cut off a large piece. "Here," he said as he tossed the knife to Gemini. He then took a large bite, savoring the deer. Nothing beats deer meat, he thought as he wolfed down the meat as fast as he could.

 

Gemini watched him eat for a second, alittle surprised by how hungry he seemed. She cut herself a smaller peice and at it gratefully. "Feeling better now?" she asked when they were finished.

 

Lanan nodded as his swallowed the last bite. He looked at the carcass in front of him, he noticed he had eaten a lot more than Gemini and felt a little bad, but he shook it off. He leaned back and laid on the ground, letting the fire warm his body. Looking at the stars, he was lost in thought. It was a rough day, but after being healed, it was the most relaxing day he's had in awhile, even with Ekaf's attack. "So, Gemini," he started, "I know I'm in a hurry, but it is late. We can either head to the next town like planned, or camp out here for awhile. Your choice." He didn't usually procrastinate, but he was worried about the upcoming day.

 

Gemini watched the flames as she considered. She was comfortable in the wild but also excited to see more towns, also he did seem in a hurry, as he'd said. "It's probably more efficent to go on to the next town, if you're ready to run again." she answered.

 

Lanan knew she was right. He could relax when he wasn't under attacked by legendary monsters from a nightmare. Rolling backwards, he ended up on his feet. He looked at the fire and molded a small gust that blew it out. "Race ya," he smiled at Gemini. "I'll even give you a headstart." He motioned in the direction of the next town.

 

Gemini stood up, rolling her eyes with a smile. "If you give me a headstart, you'll never catch up." she informed him before taking full advantage and taking off on all fours in one big leap. Soon she found her stride and waited for him to catch up while she ran.

 

"That's cheap," Lanan muttered. She distracted him by saying he'll never catch up and then took off. He ran behind her, but it seemed that he would need some time to catch up. She's faster than I thought, but not fast enough.

 

Gemini let her mind wander as she ran. She was sure he'd eventualy catch up but she figured she had alittle while to herself at least.

Alira finished convicing the soldiers to take the girl back and rushed back to Azazel. "Its finished, shall we continue sir, we still have a long way, and there is nothing between here and Baflee" she said.

 

Hester stared at the vampire and took a deep breath. "Well I do be thinking that you two be mighty hungry, especially you vampire. And seeing that I do be needing me crew members to make it through these waters safely.... I do be volunteering to give ye some of me blood to.... drink...."
Hester wasn't afraid of vampires, though the thought, of willingly giving his blood, did make him feel a tad faint. However, he knew that it was his job to see that his crew members made it to land safely and if this was what it took to do so then so be it.
