And this is part of why I'm starting to think that maybe Ring of Destruction should be Banned...I mean all you gotta do is summon out some 4000+ ATK Monster on the first turn and then chain ROD to your opponent's standby phase and then chain Barrel Behind the Door to it and whoever you're Dueling is screwed. They won't get priority to use something like a Hanewata, a Damage Eater or a Ring of Defense etc. Because Counter Traps are of the highest activation speed giving you higher priority than your opponent.

 

Huh then I guess Ring of Destruction should be banned if it gives THAT much leverage, then again, Kaiba won't be amused but his company can't do much

 

this is a noob question but wouldnt damage eater not be able to "eat" that kind of damage?
if you read the card it would say:

"When your OPPONENT activates a card or effect that would inflict damage,"
So wouldnt Yusei still take the damage cuz he was the one who activated the trap?...
I thought damage eater can only be activated if your opponent uses a card that deals damage o.O

Except your opponent should be given the chance to chain before you can activate Barrel Behind The Door. Otherwise it would indeed be a cheap win. There's no need to ban Ring Of Destruction if we're all chivalrous enough to do at least that.

 

man, I am so torn between just watching or wanting to duel. So many losses can make a guy really doubt himself

 

Counter Traps are of the highest activation speed so you get to have priority to use Barrel Behind the Door before your opponent can chain to Ring of Destruction. But you're indeed right. As long as nobody actually DOES that there's no reason to ban it.

 

wouldn't the only way to counter a counter trap would be to use another counter trap? So really the only way to keep yourself alive is make yourself go first and set up a counter trap. Unless you do what Styx mentioned

 

well if you want to play it safe you can always drop one of these on your opponent's first turn (first turn of the whole duel.)

*and I mean drop it on a standby phase or something before your opponent has a chance of dealing damage to you*
