    I actually share this annoyance, I didn't start out using trunade, heavy storm, spirit, etc. but if you don't then your pretty much screwed. My decks are centered around summoning big monsters(Blue-Eyes, Blue-Eyes Ultimate, etc), so I know your pain, I rarely get to see my monsters live past one turn.

    The idea is to start out small and save your big weapons for later. That's what I do. And that's what any competitive player would tell you too. You're supposed to be conservative with your cards and not waste them. Filling your field with your best monsters right on the first turn and wasting your special summoning cards such as Polymerization etc. is not wise.
