I'll repeat this once again, I don't care what anybody says, I'm not playing the real game anymore. I'm fed up with Konami's idiocy. This is the stupidest most unfair game that I've ever seen...I honestly don't see how or why I ever liked it now...Luck and skill do not mix. They do not belong together in a game. It's not fair for a bad player to beat a good player because of luck. I really don't even get how this game is even still alive...Damn that stupid anime for making it look like this game was all skill...

I had to get my ass mercilessly handed to me in my last 2 duels all because of the luck concept...Fred played Card Destruction and made me lose all my best cards and then said "Out of heroes already?" like he was taunting me...

And in my last Duel with Brooklyn I drew the shittiest starting hand I ever had with this deck and he took FULL complete advantage of it...and I had to lose with no fighting chance at all...He didn't even have to bounce my Sangan back to my hand but he did it anyway just to be a dick...

But anyway, my point is, this game is unfair. And that's why I'm not playing it anymore. Quite frankly, This game was never truly "fair" to begin with...Even back when the banlist DID balance it there was always the possibility of a good player losing to a bad one because of a dead hand. Just because the probability of a bad or dead hand is low with a good deck doesn't mean it isn't there at all...

Games aren't about winning or losing, it's about having fun.

Quoted from the dictionary definition of "Game":

    game1
    n
    1. an amusement or pastime; diversion
    2. a contest with rules, the result being determined by skill, strength, or chance

There's also a saying; Life is like a box of chocolates.
You may have had a few that you didn't like, but how would you know what the others taste like if you don't try?
I've had a few duels with people who didn't even know how to read. one of my opponent's said that Formula Synchron has you draw on his standby phase, even though the card clearly said "When this card is synchro summoned: you can draw one card.". (maybe not in those exact words, but too lazy to check.)
If I had stopped dueling other people on DN because of those people, I would never have dueled the ones that are actually challenging and know the rulings.
For example; that one guy who used a skill drain E-Hero deck. That was a pretty interesting deck.

Also, you're seeing things in a negative way.

I was going to leave this post alone with the understanding that you would never agree with me, and it was pointless to say anything, but then you said that luck and skill do not mix, when the whole point of the game is allowing them to complement each other. You've seen my Fables fight, they rely on a balance of skill and luck. They are constructed keeping in mind the balance between luck and skill, speed and power, generic and specific. Generic cards can almost always be used, which makes them easier cards. They may require less skill, but at the same time they require less luck. It takes luck to set up elaborate strategies, and some cards will often be dead with little luck, but no matter how crappy your luck is, if you draw something like Dark Hole, you can use it. There's less skill and luck in the set up, which counter-balances the luck needed to draw it. On the other hand, if you can provide good set up for cards like Rise of the Snake Deity, or Quasar, they're much more powerful. they require less luck to draw, due to the ban list, but more skill and luck to set up. Then, there are cards like card destruction, pot of avarice, allure of darkness, and cards for black feathers, which provided less advantage, and aren't always usable, but make it less luck based, as there are less cards in your deck. The point of my Fables is to allow most cards to sub in for each other. It's like there are four monsters I need, and I have six copies of each, as long as I draw two separate monsters, I'm okay, but it takes skill, and good decision making, to make the substitutions work at their best.

I asked because I was genuinely surprised. you had.. 22 cards in your deck, I believe, and had around 8-12 heroes in the grave. I'm used to decks that have around twenty monsters, so seeing your heroes unable to use emergency call already shocked me, because I expected them to be more monster heavy than most. Really, you're complaining because you happened to draw your monsters quickly, and I happened to be able to get rid of them. We both had similar luck that duel (few of my starting hand were discards, and I think I discarded BLS) but mine happened to counter yours.

in a strategy game, you must always assume your opponent has a plan that's better than yours, and be ready to counter it. If he destroys your Sangan, that could give you the final piece you need to beat him, and only by bouncing it can he save himself.

Yugioh isn't about winning every single game, and dead hands do happen. I've had games where my first hand is two Kushano, three Chawa, and a monster reborn, even though that's all I run of each of those. I've also had games where I draw card destruction, monster reborn, phoenix wing, beckoning light, mind control, and Avarice, even though I only run 11 S/T cards. That's why tournaments are structured in matches. you may get a horrible hand one game, but if you're better, you can still win the other two, and your opponent wont have a great hand every time either.

Skill and luck are not mutually exclusive. Designing a deck that can avoid dead draws, or deal with them more often than not is all skill; your skill changes the amount of luck you need. This post seems overkill after Brooklyn replied, but.. *posts anyway*

You're completely missing the point...There was NOTHING Sangan could've done to save me...But that's also beside the point. And technically I would've beaten you in that last Duel if the monster I had was Heat instead of Lady Heat but that's beside the point too.

The point is it's not fair because someone can be extremely skilled at dueling and know what cards to play at the right time but still lose to a player who is far inferior to them because of a dead hand or a bad hand or because that said person had a lucky draw. And no, I'm not saying that you and Brooklyn aren't skilled or that I'm better than either of you.

Another part of the point is it takes no skill at all to actually win in the real game. Anybody can do it. The fact that I can do it proves that. I'm not exaggerating in the least when I say this; I have never ever been good at any type of game in my life. I have no talents or skills at anything. Whenever I play a videogame I always have to turn the difficulty setting down on the lowest setting. And sometimes I can't beat the game even then...You should see how bad I suck at Brawl on the Wii and at the other Super Smash Bros. games...

It's okay, Jaden. There are some things I'm not even good at, I'm currently up to one of the bosses of Chapter 9 in Final Fantasy XIII, and there's one attack that always kills the party leader even after I've switched the Paragdim to the right one I need. And I always die during the Pirate Assualt in Port Royal in KHII, but I keep retrying until I beat it, but there are times I just feel like giving up. But I don't, and keep trying. So, I want you to keep supervising the Arena and help others.

But seriously, I really do suck horrendously at games...I was so bad at Brawl that I had to complete Scenario Mode on the easiest mode in order to unlock the extra characters. And I only got lucky when I beat the ones that you have no choice but to defeat in battle in order to unlock. The AI is so good with them I lost more times than I could count before I finally beat them...And even when I play Arcade Mode on Normal or Very Easy I still lose a few lives before I win...I had to use Ike to beat Arcade Mode on Hard Mode. But even then I lost all 5 lives and had to use one continue...Now THAT's pathetic...

And I was so bad at Melee that the only character I was able to unlock was Jigglypuff...I had to use my Action Replay to unlock the rest...But like I said before I suck terribly at games in general. I was never good at them as I said before. Never have been and never will be...

Actually, it's bad if you have to resort to the walkthrough or guide of that game to help you. At least, to me, because I have the guides for both games and I do look at them once in awhile, most for reading purposes and to help me at that point in the game.

I don't know if that's true, but I use them to help me get through the game if I'm having a hard time. Unlike my brother, who is a avid videogame player, he rarely uses the guides, when he first got KHII, he beat it in, like, a week. But maybe a lot of people do use guide to help the beat a game, that might depend on how hard the game is for them. I also sort of have made a hobby of collecting game guides, I have the guides for Crisis Core, the GBA verison of CoM, FFXII, FFXIII, and KHII.

Oh, it's nothing. I was just thinking how good my brother was at what he did, he was more a soical butterfly than I was, but thanks to him, I am who I am now. I can't say I was jealous of him and his superior ability, but he wasn't also a mean brother. He looked out for me and protected me, like when we went to Disney World in 08, when it was just us in the park, he stayed by my side the whole day. I just miss him, but hopefully, I'll see him again.
