Tips on how to make ramen noodles actually taste good

I've got a SPUNKY question here.
You see, I've been eating some ramen noodles here as I type.
They taste...bland. Like a CARDBOARD cutout of skittles but with the s MISISING IN ACTION.
Does anyone have tips on how to make Marchan ramen instant noodles not taste like cardboard cutouts of skittles with the s missing?
I want my ramen to TASTE like something that I've never eaten before.
I want my ramen to LOOK like something That I've never eaten before.
I want my ramen to FEEL like something that I've never eaten before.
And finally... I want my ramen to SMELL!!!!!!! Like something that I've never eaten before.
So far I've put CRUSHED RED PEPPERS on my ramen noodles. It's ok for now.
So please I need an HONEST answer. I am being
DEAD SERIOUS HERE.

 

I would add some chicken bullion to it, as well as some soy sauce

Look, INSTANT Ramen isn't actually supposed to taste like the best thing you've ever had. Learn to accept that and you will enjoy it more.

I'm sorry but I'm not quite sure if these suggestions are helping me.
First of all The ramen known as maruchan ramen noodles is not the "cheapest blandest exscriment"
Maruchan ramen noodles has helped me live out my life as a human being.
Second of all that big red yakuzasoba Maruchan ramen instant bowl tastes even worse than the regular beef flavored ramen known as maruchan ramen.
I have high expectations for all the foods I eat.
Instant noodles should taste exactly like the actual thing.
I want my noodles to taste like it came from a ramen shop not a toilet that has no lid.
I want to hear an essay on how to make the ramen known as maruchan ramen taste good
All you did was try to make me not eat ramen.
Was that helpful? Maybe but most likely no.
You see...I tend to not cook since I'm a busy human being.
So ramen is the only thing I know how to make.
I've attempted fried ramen, which was good.
I've tested out multiple spices on my ramen and that turned out bad.
Ramen is my life.
Instant noodles should be experimented with peppers and microorganisms like DNS and DNA cells.
All I'm asking is for instant noodles to taste like real authentic ramen noodles.

I had a Vietnamese friend. I ate a lot of these at his place, he called it migoy (can' t promise I' m spelling that correctly) :

Never added anything myself, but if memory serves he told me his parents sometimes threw an egg in there.
And I assume switching those suspiciously crappy powders with actual vegetables/meat/bullion wouldn' t hurt either. Homemade bullion, not a Maggi cube.

This is pretty much impossible though, you have to go to a restaurant for that... You can sub in better flavors for the seasoning but I don't think you can ever get the texture or broth 100%. The thing is, there's just no way that a $0.50 package of instant ramen (or $0.50 anything really) will ever compare to the 'real' stuff, and if you dress it up too much it defeats the purpose of a cheap/quick meal anyway and you may as well go out, lol. If you eat ramen all the time and it's all you know how to make, maybe you should experiment making other foods? You could just be sick of it in general to be honest with you! I get being busy, but there's a lot of simple, cost effective alternatives out there.

That being said, I believe there are a myriad of websites dedicated to trying different instant noodles and rating them, so maybe look around and see which ones people like best. I do like Koyo ramen personally. These days I like to let ramen noodles soak up the flavor of the broth for a few minutes and then get rid of it; the broth's just really... Well, bad for you lol. It's a small change but I got pretty sick of ramen last year and for some reason it's given it some extra mileage with me.


Substituting cheese for broth is surprisingly good imo (I thought I'd hate it), and I like to add meat or dried seaweed sometimes... It's a pretty versatile food haha.

What kind of restaurants are you eating at? In my experience, TV dinners are usually disgusting.

 

So this is where it all goes down to.
"WHAT KIND OF RESTAURANTS ARE YOU EATING AT?"
I eat foods from a la Applebee's, the 99, the steak house, the habachi, the ruby tuesdays, and the local mall restaurants that has no name.
Currently my win streak has increased by one.

 

First step: Take the little pack of flavouring that they give you and chuck it. Good. Now add your own stuff. Want chicken ramen? Chicken stock, sage, rosemary. Beef stock is good with dried chilis and cumin. Garlic powder, basil, oregano and pepper for all flavours. Soy sauce and oyster sauce are good options.

For vegetables, add anything. Harder veggies (carrots, celery, broccoli) should go in when you start the water boiling so they have time to soften. Softer veggies (bok choy, snow peas, cabbage) or frozen stuff can go in after you add the noodles.

Protein. Chop strips of meat, fast fry them and toss them in when the soup is done. Or just put them in the pot after you put in the noodles and let them boil into cooked-ness. Crack an egg into the soup after you put in the noodles. Not my favourite way of doing it, but my brother really enjoys. Adds substance. Or boil the egg, slice it and go from there.

Of course ramen tastes like cardboard. It basically is cardboard. It's not good for you because there isn't anything in it. Adding stuff makes it taste better and will probably prevent scurvy. Have fun!
