Van Helsing

"I should take that gun from Edward," Van Helsing mused, seeing it in the man's hands. "He doesn't look like he should have that right now."

 

Hannah gave up and kept pace with Edward, thinking about what had happened.

"Right," John muttered. "How did you do that? She couldn't take her eyes off you."

 

Edward say Van Helsing and Jinx, and frowned. Just what we need, an inquiry squad to meet us, he grumbled in his head when he and Hannah reached the two.

 

Jinx was going to ask right off the bat but she shut her mouth and gave them a minute.

Carl looked at the two, "So, how was the walk?" He asked.

 

Lestat chuckled. "I don't think I could teach you, John," he began, grinning. "I mean, I could try, but most of it is just my natural charm... and that is something you will never possess."

 

"It was great." Hannah mumbled in reply to Carl. "Just great."

John scowled at Lestat. "You and the dog both."

 

"What happened with John?" Van Helsing demanded, not having enough patience to beat around the bush.

 

"Nothing you need to know about," Edward snapped, and pulled Hannah over to their carriage. "It's dark now. Shouldn't we be getting along?"

 

"Do not worry," Lestat shrugged. "I don't even like her. I enjoy the effect, not the actual person, for your information. I know she's always technically going to be yours... and you almost had her tonight. Why didn't you let the boy kill himself?"

 

"She wouldn't be much fun if she was just moping over his dead body for the rest of her life." John answered.

Hannah sighed. "I'll tell you about it later." She promised Van Helsing. "I don't feel well right now...."

 

"So, you'll tell us later." Jinx said, making it a statement. They can't keep all this from us forever... "But he's right... we should probably get going for now." she sighed and looked at Beatice, "I'll sit up with you, kay?"

Carl opened the door in the luggage carrige after looking at Edward for a second. Dear God, I hope Edward doesn't try and kill anyone.

 

Van Helsing was going to say something, but swallowed his retorts to Jinx and Edward. He climbed into the driver's seat, grabbed Lexi and Sorin's reigns, and sighed.

"Go on, then," he said to Jinx, Carl, and Beatrice. "Let's go."

 

"Very true," Lestat agreed, smirking at Edward's reaction. "Yet I have a feeling the boy will find a way around you."

 

Edward pulled Hannah into the carriage, snapped the door shut, and sat down opposite her, staring at the gun he still held in his hands.

I told you it was stupid!

Edward half-swallowed a cry when he heard Lestat and shut his eyes tightly.

 

Hannah sat next to Edward, tentatively placing her hand on his cheek. "Are you okay?"

Beatrice got up on her carriage and took the reigns. I hope those two will be okay....

"And how will he do that?" John asked.

 

"Ready?" Van Helsing asked the other carriage, pushing his hat down farther on his head.

 

Edward sighed, trying to smile and failing miserably. "I thought you'd be way too angry to even talk to me right now," he mumbled.

 

"He's a smart boy," Lestat explained dully. "If he knows how to kill this Dracula person, I'm sure he'd have no problem getting around you and your binding to your girl."

 

Carl leaned back in his seat. This isn't going to be pretty when they finally tell us what's going on...
Jinx leaned foward in her seat and rested her arms in her lap. "You okay?" she asked Beatice, quietly.

 

"Ready." Beatrice called back to Van Helsing. "I'm worried about Hannah and Edward." She answered Jinx.

Hannah half-smiled. "I may be angry, but that doesn't mean I can ignore you if you're hurt."

"We'll just have to see." John muttered.
