Will nodded. "maybe you are right, but then what shall we do with Ms. Angelyn if we aren't going to have her meet Hannah?"

Jinx nodded. "Yeah, I think we should go too."

 

"The boy's thoughts," Lestat explained politely, smiling. "Edward's making her stay. That's what I mean... L'homme difficile, vous n'êtes pas?" he muttered to himself.

 

Van Helsing turned to Carl. "Can you take care of the horses, my friend?" he asked. "I need to go for a quick walk."

 

Carl stared at Van Helsing. "Van Helsing, aren't you listening to this?" he asked.

Jinx also had her eyes on Van Helsing, equally as confused as Carl. "There are a few vampires out there, all perfectly willing to kill you I'm sure. and you want to go for a walk?"

Will smirked. "Right... well this is taking more than five minutes you know."

 

"I can't help it...." Hannah murmured, tearing her gaze away from the trees.

"Just one more minute." John said. "Hannah, we're waiting for you. Miss Von Cullen is looking forward to seeing you."

Hannah's eyes went back to the trees. "Edward... Don't let go of me...."

Beatrice sniffed the air. All I smell is Carl. I don't see what Hannah's getting so worked up about.

 

"Don't worry, dear," Edward said, giving Jinx a worried look. "I won't."

 

"You're right," Van Helsing replied, and looked at Carl again. "Come here."

He took the friar off the side slightly and lowered his voice. "Do you have anything... anything in your carriage that will make me undectable if I'm out there? So they can't smell me," he added to clarify.

 

He's not even trying Lestat thought, a little worried. He tried to ignore the grumble in his stomach when his eyes fell on Angelyn.

 

Angelyn tried to understand why she was feeling so secure around three vampires, and tried to think of a way to get away from them.

 

Jinx clenched her fists but let it go. Fine, go get yourself killed! she was a little surprised how worried she actully felt, despite her thoughts. She pushed off the feelings and returned Edward's look. "Hannah, you're not going anywhere." she assured her, taking hold of one of her wrists in an iron hold.

"Sure, one more minute." Will leaned back on a tree. "Let's see how long this minute takes."

Carl looked away from Van Helsing. "Well yes I do, but as your friend, I don't think I can let you go out there, at the moment. Sorry... but I'm not going to be responsible for you dying."

 

Hannah was soon breathing quickly with the effort of controlling herself. Her eyes flickered back and forth between the trees and the members of her group as she contemplated going after Angelyn.

"Hannah, are you trying to keep our guest waiting?" John gently touched Angelyn's cheek. "Don't worry, she'll come soon, dear."

Hannah's eyes flared red and she struggled against Jinx and Edward.

"Just let him go, Carl. He knows what he's doing." Beatrice told the friar.

 

Carl sighed. "That's what you think..." he muttered, but went to his bags to find a vial. "Here, don't get yourself killed please." he smiled at Van Helsing, but wasn't happy about this.

Jinx didn't even flinch. "Uh huh, that's nice." she said to Hannah, as if she didn't really give a damn how hard she stuggled, while she grabbed Hannah's other wrist and held her tighter.

 

"You don't know how much I want to go out there right now as well," Edward growled, surprised his grip wasn't hurting Hannah.

 

Lestat sighed, and then stopped. They're holding her, John, he snapped at the vampire. Just do it yourself already.

 

"Thank you, Carl," Van Helsing sighed, and, giving Jinx a side glance, headed quickly off into the trees. He uncorked the phial as he went, swallowing all of its contents. He shuddered, a chilling, frozen feeling coming over his limbs. He listened as hard as he could, heading in the direction of any voice that came to his ears.

 

Jinx clenched her jaw, ignoring Van Helsing's eyes as he left. Stupid... she shook the thought off again and concentrated on holding Hannah.

Will gently leaned towards Angelyn just enough to reach a strand of her hair and he twirled it around his finger before placeing it behind her ear. "You must be quite important for John to put so much trust in Ms.Hannah coming to get you." he said, sitting next to her.

 

"Fine; I'm going." John grith his teeth and trudging towards the carriages, practically dragging Angelyn with him.

Hannah tried to detach herself from the shackles of hands as Angelyn scent grew stronger. Her eyes already finding exactly where she'd be coming from.

 

Angelyn shuddered as she and John came out of the tree and she saw Hannah. She suddenly doubted herself in her ability to do what she'd set out to.

 

Now Jinx could smell it, or at least she smelled a humann girl. "Okay! Now we're leaving!" she said, pulling Hannah in the opposite direction.

Will stayed where he was, prefering to listen and watch than to come face to face with Jinx again, he'd wait until John wasn't right there to come by her again.

 

"No!" Edward snapped, yanking Hannah toward him. He ran over to Lexi whom Van Helsing had detached from the carriage already. He tossed Hannah up in front of him and then sprung up behind her, grabbing the reins.

"We'll follow the trees," Edward said now, turning Lexi as she paced frantically. "You'll catch up with us!" And he dug his boot heels into Lexi's sides, sprinting off into the border of the forest.
