Van Helsing

Stupid boy! Lestat shrieked in Edward's head, not caring if he made the man scream or not. He left Will quickly, becoming the nearest shadow, practically flying at the speed he accelerated to. He's faster than you!

 

Then let him have me! Edward growled in return, gritting his teeth. He'll have to leave Angelyn behind to follow and if he does, you get the girl out of here! Back to Rome... anywhere but here!

 

Van Helsing turned, hearing John and Hannah walk by. He stayed behind them a safe distance, his bow in his hand.

 

Hannah pulled against Edward's hold, angered that the scent was fading.

John sighed. Edward was only making this more fun for him. He slung Angelyn over his shoulder and bolted off after Lexi. He knew changing would only frighten Angelyn; and there was nothing more annoying, and appealing, than a frightened girl. "You're stronger than that, Hannah."

 

Jinx wanted to scream at Edward. But she just threw her fist into a tree, making a large crack up the trunk. "Carl, please get yourself a gun. Beatice, use whatever you want. Come on, we've got to get John before he catches them. Which means we have almost no time!"

Carl grabbed one of Van helsing's spare guns, "Um, I can't run as fast as you two..." he pointed out.

"Oh right. Well, can you stay with the horses than? Keep the gun on you, we'll be back soon." Jinx ran off, waving a hand at Beatice to follow her.

Will tapped his foot on the ground for a little while, waiting for them to leave the carriges.

 

"Let me go!" Angelyn yelled, fear starting to overtake her.

 

"Shh," Edward tried to soothe. "Calm down. It's fine, love," he murmured, making sure he crushed Hannah between himself and Lexi's neck. "Just stay still."

 

Dammit, Lestat swore, streaking after John. Edward, he began. I'm starting to think you should Hannah have the stupid girl.

 

Van Helsing leaned against the nearest tree now, sighing and catching his breath. Oh well, he thought. It was a good idea till they all started running like idiots...

 

Will stepped out into the clearing. "hello, friar." he greeted Carl, sending a wave of trust over him already.

Carl was about to raise the gun, but he suddenly didn't see the reason to. "What do you want?" he managed to ask.

Will meerly laughed.

Jinx ran with Beatice, pinpointing where John was. She saw him just ahead and put a burst of speed into her run to catch up with him. "Stop following her." she hissed in his ear.

 

Hannah clenched her jaw, her fangs digging into her gums. She soon tired of struggling against Edward and just stayed still, her muscles aching.

John looked at Beatrice. "A newborn, hm?" He smirked, and then tossed Anglyn to Beatrice.

Beatrice squeaked and caught Angelyn, grinding to a stop.

Hannah closed her eyes, her breathing returning to normal, as they got farther away from Angelyn.

John pulled Jinx into a tree. "You really shouldn't interfere." He said in a low voice, holding her wrists against the tree.

Beatrice let go of Angelyn. "Go... now." Angelyn's smell wasn't as appealing to her as it was to Hannah, but it was still the smell of blood.

 

Angelyn looked Beatrice over. She turned pale and then fainted, falling foward against Beatrice.

 

Jinx looked John in the eye. "You shouldn't touch me." she answered, flicking her leg out around his to throw him down.

Carl gripped the gun a little tighter "What do you want?" he repeated.

"Information." Will finally answered.

 

Edward ignored Lestat and finally sighed, though he did not let Lexi slow down. "Are you alright, dear?" he asked softly. "Please say something."

 

"Let him be, petit l'un," Lestat ordered Jinx softly, stepping out of the trees. "Don't make him harm you."

 

Jinx didn't move. "Please do not tell me what to do." she said, her voice gaining an angry edge. "this man is tormenting my friend. Why should I let him continue?"

Carl straightened up. "You'll get no information from me, sorry."

Will shook his head, laying the trust on even thicker. "yeah, I'll get it from you. Now, what can you tell me about the people you are traveling with?"

 

John just held Jinx tighter. "Stay out of this, Lestat." He grumbled, keeping his eyes on Jinx.

"I want her, Edward...." Hannah moaned, not moving. "I..." She exhaled. "I'm tired...."

Beatrice squeaked again, but held onto Angelyn so she wouldn't fall. "Um.... Crud."

 

"Hush, then," Edward murmured. "I can hold you up. We'll keep moving till dawn and then find somewhere to stop... they'll catch up with us later."

 

Jinx stared right back at John, not letting any fear show on her face. She felt all her muscles tence and flicked through her mind to think of the most effective way to knock John out.

 

Lestat grinned. "As you wish, monsieur," he snapped, and, quicker than even he thought he could, he snatched Angelyn away from Beatrice and sped off into the darkness, back toward the city of Rome.
