Okay, I agree we're all to blame a bit and I wasn't there for the original game but I don't agree that the P's version was not good, we had some pretty amazing rounds and it did keep up for ages. However gradually people lost interest after alterations of clues at first and then near the end the failure of different versions of the game.

I would love for it to be revived at some point so old players and new people alike can enjoy it. But if it is the please, please, please use the original rules not some silly attempt to make it more interesting. (By original I mean the first one's used in P's version, I don't know if the ones the first time round were the same)

    Do it. Seriously.

As for the DN game: I can restart it, I suppose. But later. After my exams, and after Sforz here starts up a Mafia game.

Oh, and ICSP <3< Makaze is beautiful.

While I sort of agree with this, I think the main reason it died is because things got a bit complicated with it over time. Now there were clues and I don't even know what else. So it was milked to death. The DN game is something that cannot be played all the time or you just get bored (like with many other games which require a degree of effort)

So putting nostalgia aside, we should appreciate that ICSP brought this game to us in the first place. And let the horse rest for a while, as opposed to beating it to the point of death and then beating it some more.

You know, it could be fun to try an RP-style version of the Death Note game. I'd be up for running such a game. Currently, I'm thinking something similar to the KHV-centred short stories (e.g. Blood of the Cascade), only as a Death Note styled RP, with more focus on the fluff of the game, as opposed to the rules. This would also open up the way for better mindgames and the like. On the other hand, it wouldn't be worthwhile unless we got a large enough group of people willing to sign up. It's no good if the initial playerbase is alienated.

So far, we've pinpointed the constantly changing rules as being the death of it, so a focus on the narrative and story could be a nice change of pace. Or maybe that's just me. Thoughts?

Hasn't the game been milked for all its worth enough?
From what I see, the consistent failure of the game comes more from the fact that it's starting to leave a sour taste in the mouth. Granted the fairly new players enjoy it...but 2-3 new players cannot all account for the 10-15 players it generally needs to run good rounds. The larger portion of the players come from the old members, who now have grown tired of the game. Let it be guys. Don't tamper with the lovely "good ending" of the game as we left it. Further alterations will now seriously kill anything that's left.

This is where we differ. Because I know the game was somewhat successful after the "oldies" left it. I think the game should be revived periodically or something, that'd be fun.

Hmm...I suppose the periodic revival may be good, but I really feel the game itself should not be altered any further. The alterations made were generally to attract new players and push the current players to be more engaged within the game. Periodic revival will engage the players no matter what, and there would be no reason to actually try to change the game to make it "better" or "easier."

Tho...Imo, the original was always more challenging than the latter version. Even I drew sweat from it.

A lot of people forgot the original point of the game was to last only a few weeks. More subtley, it actually brought us closer together.

Secondly, someone should innovate a new game.

    Yes. Please.

The game was genius tho. Despite it's deaths, it still wants to live. x3
