Where are the parents?

Where are the parents of Riku, Sora, and Kairi during they're journy. All thats been confirmed is Sora has a mom but thats it. Any thoughts on this or any of the connections that any BBS characters is greatly appreciated.

 

Well, the game is based on a group of teenagers, so no one really cares about the parents; answering the question why they don't show any.

No need to show the parents, so why put them in there? Sora has a mom, but they only put her in there to show that there are parents in the town/city/wherever they are.

Yeah, anyway by KH2 you can see from the cutscenes with Kairi that the destiny islands is just like any other community. So yeah you just assume by the second game that the parents are out of view. And the reason Sora's mum doesnt worry about her son.. well.. she must have forgotten about him like everyone else, right?

What about the romurs that the Terra, Ven, and Aqua might be related to Soa Riku or Kairi's family.

 

Pah, they are just rumours. Based on the part of the trailer where they are seen watching what appears to be a young Sora and Riku on a beach. Which could mean anything. And the fact that Ven looks almost exactly the same as Roxas. Which again, means nothing.

I think if you wanna talk about Aqua Ven and Terra you should post in the birth by sleep section. Theres dozens of threads about them though.

 

Sora has a Mummy, Selphie goes to school, Kairi was taken in (Might have been by the mayor) and Riku also has at least one parent, due to how he yelled "We may never see our parents again!" at the start of KH1.

 

Exactly. Basically, they're just trying to make you assume that there are parents, because they talk about them and you hear one.

 

I don't think Sora's mom would have forgotten about him for forever, though, OWS. Just for as long as Kairi didn't remember. After that, I'm sure she was worried about her son. If she wasn't, then Sora has a bad mommy.

I'm sure that Riku and Sora each have at least one parent, but they don't bother showing them because parents ruin adventure stories. Simple as that.​

 

They do tend to ruin adventure stories lolz.

 

Sora's mom forgetting him wouldn't mean she is a bad mom. It wouldn't really be her fault, (SPOILERS) considering Namine' was taking the memories from Sora's heart and reconstructing them. In doing that, everyone who knew Sora had forgotten him. Kairi still slightly remembered him, because of her connection to Sora. Plust, they didn't actually forget Sora, they had just suddenly remembered him at the same time. (Off topic)

Overall, parents (once again) are just assumed to be there.

This basically proves that there are parents, but they never made their appearances in the game, since the story revolved more around Sora,Riku,Kairi and Org.13 etc.

 

yeah, but what about KH1, sora left and didn't exactly return home.

her mother remembered him, and what about kairi in KH1 she remembered, im sure she should have told sora's ad riku's parents that they left home....and then forgotten , and what about school?

they would need to repeat one grade....XD...no sense.

 

Umm, are you forgetting that in KH1 Destiny Islands was destroyed?

 

Probably sitting at home in Destiny Islands worried sick. It has been almost around 3 years now!

That, or they don't care about their children.

I believe it was rebuilt by Sora.

 

What kind of parents wouldn't be worried... But i don't know, the series really leaves you hangning on a lot of things.

 

When Riku, Sora and Kairi began their 'adventure', Destiny Islands was destroyed so the parents all through KH1 obviously thought nothing.

At the end of KH1 they are returned and yes, probably worried. However, in CoM as Sora loses his memories, which CoM only happened 2 or 3 weeks after the end of KH1, so too would his parents or anyone that knew him. They'd forget about him and Riku would become a vague memory. Kairi was sent home in KH1 so she too would have had her memories dull.

It's not until KH2 which is a year after KH1, that Sora regains his memories and people in other worlds such as Leon even make a comment that they had forgotten him for a time. Kairi recalled Sora when Axel showed up so it is safe to say by then, Destiny Islands people were also probably restored their memories of Riku and Sora by the time Sora and Roxas were rejoined and the memory transfer was complete.

We don't really get to see the reactions of the families of Sora, Riku and Kairi when they get home since all along it seems Nomura wanted to focus on the kids and not their parents. This doesn't mean, however, that Terra, Ven and Aqua are in any way parents to them as all three would be too young and just not feasible to do so. BBS takes place 10 years before KH1.

So, yes, despite the fact that Sora and Riku were missing for over a year (not 3 years), the parents had no worries through much of KH1 since they were destroyed... then had some worry time at the end of KH1 to CoM...which CoM was 3 weeks later. After CoM which only lasted a couple days at most, Namine was then having to begin repairing Sora, which took around a year's time. The parents again would have forgotten about Sora and well, had barely the ability to recall Riku. So the worry may dim for them or at least especially Sora's parents. We know he at least has a mom, but she could not recall him.

KH2 probably takes a few weeks as did KH1, so all in all, the panic, worry time probably wasn't so dramatic though I'm sure all 3 kids had a lot of explaining to do when they arrived home at last.

 

Well who knows really? They might have died in the first attack of the shadows in KH1 or maybe you just never see them. The world may never know.

 

Because, it is a very interesting part of this game to figure out. The parents haven't been revealed in the whole series.
