    was Xehanorts main goal to merge with terra or have ven and van fight to create the x-blade? because depending on who you play as both of them seem to be the more important

    More or less. He wanted to forge the X-Blade to restart the keyblade war. And he wanted a younger, stronger body so he could possibly win the war, and to live longer of coarse.

    Exactly. But also in the secret ending of BBS, MX tells Terra in their souls that he has other routes to get what he wants. We later find out that this was Riku. But I think they are both important, he was old and needed a younger body to fight in the keyblade war.

    In a way, they were both his goals. As Buster said, Master Xehanort wanted a younger and stronger body so he could continue on to create the X-blade (Keyblade as it seems to be pronounced) to bring Kingdom Hearts to himself and open it. What he would gain from opening Kingdom Hearts, I don't know.

    Well Kingdom Hearts is the heart of all worlds, so he would either rule all worlds, or combine all worlds into one whole again, and then rule. Either way, its bad news.

    The Xehanort reports do say something about that... IIRC, it says all worlds weren't separated in the past. The Keyblade war was then fought, and the worlds were divided to avoid the conflict happening again. If someone summoned Kingdom Hearts using the X-Blade, the world would merge and the battle would be refought.
