You cant hide forever

"Don't..." Hermia said quickly. "I don't think I could survive through you leaving again..." She said, wiping her face quickly. She hated having to admit these things, but there were times where it really was the only option.

 

I dont want to go .... but I keep hurting you...maybe I should hurt now..."

 

"Please." Hermia said tearfully, subconsciously grabbing hold of his sleeve with a white knuckle grip. "I just want you... I can't put everything that happened out of my mind... I'm not going to pretend I can... But the idea of losing you now is worse..."

 

He looked at her"Im sorry....dont cry...Im not going anywhere...."

 

She hiccuped slightly, her grip still not releasing. "Y-You better not..." She sniffled, wiping her face quickly once more.

 

"The only way Im going anywhere...is if Im killed.."

 

"Y-You promise...?" She sniffled.

 

he nodded "Promise."

 

Hermia nodded weakly, trying not to let her tears start streaming down her face. After a breif moment she slid off of the bed and collapsed onto him. Clutching tightly to his shirt and sniffling softly.

 

"Shhs...calm down...it's ok.."he muttered stroking her hair

River sat at the table,a hand presed to his cheek,staring at his almost empty glass,another two completely empty glasses on his other side

 

"You all right there River?" Hermia asked, holding her glass of wine in her hand. Her brow furrowing slightly, she hadn't seen him drink this much in a while. And the last time she'd drunk that much she'd been in a royally foul mood with River.

 

"River...go in the kitchen...I'll be in a minute."

 

Hermia nodded slightly, her eyes still shining slightly with tears.

 

"Hermia..."Mickey said

River,seemed to be constentrating on not tripping over his feet,which didnt work,as he made his way into the kitchen

 

"Y-Yeah...?" She said, looking up at Mickey. Her voice trembled in a manner that was most unusual to hear in her usually strong-willed tone.

 

"Dont keep getting upset about him...he'll...be fine..."

 

Slowly she looked to the floor, her feet shuffling slightly underneath her. "Would you be able to stop getting upset if it were Lake doing all of this...?"

 

He thought for a moment,then shook his head "No...but...I know that if I gave her time....she'd stop."

 

"I don't know that though... Since he came back I feel like I barely know him... It's like living with a time bomb that you can't see the timer for..."
