You cant hide forever

He sighed "He cant help the way he is....he knows he's hurting you...and tomorrow....He'll probably come begging for forgivness...maybe you two need space..."

 

"I don't want space... I want him to stop trying to destroy himself like this." She protested, trying her hardest to hold in a large sob.

 

"I'll speak to him in the mornning....see if I can get him to stop..."

 

"O-Okay..." She mumbled, wiping her face quickly.

 

"why dont you go back up stairs and I'll get him sober enough for him to sleep it off right..?"

 

"Okay..." She mumbled, wiping her face again. She begrudgingly went towards the stairs, deliberately taking her time.

 

He went into the kitchen to sort out his son

 

She trudged up the stairs and waited on the landing, wondering if she'd hear anything from there.

 

"Hi dad!"he said perkily,a little too loudly


"River...shush...you'll wake everyone up."

 

She strained her ears, but couldn't hear a sound over her own heartbeat and the occasional sob that would escape her.

 

"River....bud this has to stop..."

"what does?"

 

She sighed quietly and headed into her's and River's room, unsure if he would be joining her that night or not.

 

"Just drink this.."

 

She climbed into the bed and settled down. Her eyes strayed onto the empty space beside her and it felt as though her heart stopped beating for a second.

 

"Can I go sleep upstairs? "he asked slurring his words together

"Gusse it wouldnt hurt..."

 

She sighed and rolled onto her stomach, burying her face in the soft pillow.

 

Mickey walked behind River as they made their way up stairs,River managed to trip,but keep his balance when he entered their room,Mickey shut the door behind him,he thought about putting the silencing charm on it too..but left it alone.


"Hermia..."he said stumbling to their bed "I-im sorry....Im such a ass..."but he was slurring his word so much it sounded like "MslorryMsluchaashss"

 

She sat up after a moment and patted his head gently. "It's okay..." Hermia mumbled.

 

he shook his head " S'not....."

 

"Just please stop doing this..." She mumbled, removing her hand and looking down at the crumpled duvet.
