With a console, I can pop in a game and play. Some of my PC games just don't at first, and i'll have to spend hours trying to figure it all out. Superb is not the word i'd use spending ages on forums and search engines, just to find your firewall is blocking it or your problem has never been encountered by anyone else before. I've deferred from buying PC games on release and opted for the console version, just because I really want to play it and not suddenly find it won't work.

They CAN, but how are you supposed to know a PS2 version is coming out later? Shouldn't they just wait for the HD remake that just came out then? For that matter, ANOTHER remake will probably come out, knowing Capcom, so why buy it ever

nah. most games nowadays make you install it on hard drive or download a patch. or several.

Yeah, console games are steadily becoming similar to PC games in that way.
Still, installing the patch hasn't gotten as bad as installing the entire game. Definitely a nice time saver to just have a disk (It took about a full day for Final Fantasy X HD to install on my PS3 ._.)

They don't, but that's not what I was arguing in the first place.
I was saying that if there is a superior version coming out at a later date then wouldn't someone who's invested into said game take THAT option as their first experience?
This was under the assumption that a superior version WAS coming out at a later date no doubt about it.

    1. Read posts above you
    2. Console games nowadays require you to install them
    3. But you know if your console doesn't run a game then you're pretty much boned right? IE there's almost nothing you can do to fix it.

On PS4, you can play whilst it installs.
And my point is booting a game on console is rarely ever an issue.

That's the thing. You won't pop a disk into your Xbox and have it say you don't have the right driver, or dll or whatever.
You would still need to buy a PS2, just to play this game that you presumably already own. Or if you knew a version was coming out later, with extra story and such... well that's just kinda a dick move, really, if the better version is coming so soon you actually know about it. And investment can only take you so far, what about money? What about excitement. Sure, being perfectly logical, you should want the best version of the game, but a lot of people will import a Japanese version of a game when they don't speak a word of it just so they can get the experience sooner.

i've been gaming primarily on PC for nearly 2 years and i can count the number of times i've had trouble booting a game on one hand. it's a rare occurrence, and the times it's happened i've been able to fix it within 10 minutes. it's really not that big of a deal. and if you're really buggered by install times, get an SSD.

    You sound really lucky.
I've had issues not recognizing controllers, weird resolution problems, unexplained crashes, games installing but not booting. And when you try running older games the failure rate skyrockets

PCs are entirely unique between each other thanks to build. What happens on yours can be different on mine
I can count on two hands and guess the average of them all is about 4 hours to fix. And i've been gaming on PC just 3 years now.
I have been trying to play Dark Souls, and I spent hours last week trying to figure out how to disable Windows Live and Is till haven't got it to work. Meanwhile, I pop it in on the PS3 and i'd be fine.

You know if your build is causing problems then maybe you didn't build a very good PC.
    Ummmmmmm
Dark Souls' online uses Windows Live
You can't disable Windows Live because that's how you PLAY THE GAME ONLINE!
If you don't wanna play the game online then just don't log into Windows Live.

Trying to disable Windows Live on DaS is like trying to disable PSN on the PS3 version.
Just don't log in. Otherwise it needs it to play.

How would I know if it's build? The unit works, the software doesn't always, otherwise every game I play would have an issue.

You do know you need it to save the game too? If you don't play online you can't save, and DS isn't a game to sit down and complete without saving. It was working fine till Windows Live shut down its services. And I believe you can still play online with the right fixes, but i've had no luck so far.

Depends on the issue. If the issue is "YOUR COMPUTER IS 80 YEARS OLD" then yeah it's the hardware.
If the game is crashing then it's probably the Software

    Alright, that's called DRM.
You can disable it but that would be pirating the game.
That's not exactly an inherit problem with all PC's though, even console games have DRM. I don't see what your point is.

DRM is far more of a thing with the bulk of PC gaming... it's also generally mroe accepted

My point is I've never had this issue on a console. Like Hatok says, it's been a PC issue mainly.
Not to mention, it still doesn't fix my issue. An issue caused by a lot of PC piracy which companies react to. Console piracy, meanwhile, is tiny in comparison. PC is not perfect or better inherently just because of a Field of View slider or being able to put V Sync on.

    Right
That explains why within hours of a DRM game coming out a CRACK is made specifically for the purpose of playing said game without DRM.
That explains PSN for the PS4 which literally will NOT LET YOU PLAY GAMES THAT YOU HAVE ALREADY PAYED FOR UNLESS YOU RE-NEW YOUR PSN! EVEN SINGLEPLAYER GAMES!
YOU DO REALIZE THAT NOT ONLY CAN PIRATE ALMOST EVERY CONSOLE EVER ALONG WITH ITS LIBRARY OF GAMES! BUT THE FACT THAT YOU CAN ALSO SHARE GAMES WITH PEOPLE THROUGH PSN-GAME SHARING RIGHT!?

No seriously, you guys are just saying things for the sake of saying things at this point.
What the hell IS even PC Gaming Culture?

Ah yes, and I'm sure the cracked versions are way more popular than, say, Steam

You CAN pirate console games, but it's a fair bit harder to do then nearly any PC game

Only a Sith deals in absolutes, Chemical Love

Like do you even realize the things you are saying?
You just said that piracy is a huge thing on the PC, bigger then on consoles
And then immediately after you say "lol more people play legit versions on Steam then cracked versions"
Hell you can't even say that, you're literally just pulling random things out of thin air and then going "Do you SERIOUSLY think people do X and don't do Y?" as your argument.

Like seriously, what are you trying to say right now? I think you're just being contrary for the sake of being contrary.
