Kingdom Hearts II Younger or older Riku?

I really don't like Riku in general, but if I had to choose I'd say younger, based on personality. While he was mostly a jerk, he becomes better later (As Misty mentioned with the part where he holds Ansem off). In the second game, he was all depressed and whatever about the mistakes he made in the first game. It got to the point where it was sort of obnoxious IMO.
Design wise though, Older Riku definitely.
