OOC: Well, I didn't know that; now I do. I did do something about that (unintentionally, I think), I just forgot...

BIC: A small ship zoomed out of nowhere, hovering close to the platform. Xardius walked over to it.

"Unfortunately," Xardius said, watching Scourge fight Wing and Vecked. "I can't cut loose here. We'll have to get inside the portal first. So I suggest we run up to the ship Skinnar stole, jump through the portal, and see if we can't get Scourge to follow us. He seems angry enough."

"You guys get in, I'll distract Scourge then jump in last minute," Xardius said. "Got it? Hurry!"

Xardius leaped forward from the ship, pulling his sword out and slamming into the battle like a whirlwind of death, disconnecting both Wing and Vecked from the fight and taking the full brunt of Scourge's attacks within a matter of seconds, utilizing the best swordsmanship he'd ever pulled out of his bag of tricks and all his prior knowledge of Scourge's attack patterns.

Scourge didn't seem shocked at all to see Xardius, but a snarl rippled itself onto his face as he tried to move faster than before. Xardius kept up, slashing through Scourge's attacks like static lightning. "Get to the ship, you two! We're getting out of here!"

"You're NOT LEAVING!" Scourge howled, pushing forward with all his might, but Xardius stood firm, blasting all of it back at Scourge with equal ferocity and determination.

"Hurry!" Xardius yelled, pushing Scourge back with a flurry of blows. "I can't hold him off forever!"

 

Vecked hurried, because Xardius couldn't hold him off forever.

 

A severely damaged, practically half destroyed gummi ship hovered over the Light User's base. Hoping to get a response, the pilot, Pharell Titan, sent out a radio signal.

"Pharell Titan here. Former U.P...U.O Captain," Pharell said, breathing heavily thorugh the radio. Please do me this favor and listen to me. I'm here to help."

"Looks like we've gotta hit the road," Venture said. "Sky...Whatever."

"Just shut up and keep moving," Mellodia groaned, shoving Venture into the ship. Looking back she called. "Xane!?"

"Don't worry!" Xane called back, running up to the ship, having watched the clash of the Phoenixes a bit more. "Had you worried didn't I?"

 

Niles, Saak, and Alyt listened to the transmission safely behind the section of the city they still controlled. "Think its a trap?" Niles asked, Alyt shook her head. "I don't think so, I seem to remember something about Pharell trying to work for as at one point..."

 

Pharell relayed the information he'd heard listening in on Skinnar at the Ulfire base.*

"That's all I know," Pharell said. "Now, if you'd excuse me, I'm going to beam out of this rust bucket, before it combusts."


OOC: *I don't remember exactly what Skinnar said, but it was important it seemed.

 

OOC: He said something?

BIC: "Alright..." Alyt muttered...

 

OOC: Yeah, I don't exactly remember what, though...

 

OOC: Me neither.

 

Xardius forced Scourge back one final time, then leaped into the ship, running to the pilot's chair and gunning it. He looked back in time to see Scourge's wings fluttering as he leaped after them, propelling himself upward.

"This is where it gets fun," Xardius said, aiming for Skinnar's ship above the planet. "Hang onto your butts!"

Hitting the acceleration as fast as possible, Xardius aimed for the ship's docking bay...

 

Xane flew back, having not ut on his seatbelt yet. He quickly grabbed ahold of a nearby seat to stop himslf from slamming into the back of the ship.

"Nice, Xardius..." Xane frowned.

 

"Suicide attack! Suicide attack!" A soldier in the docking bay yelled, spotting the ship. "Shoot it down! Shoot it down!"

The soldiers all entered the turrets located on the walls of the docking bay...

 

Xardius hit the brakes at the last second, slowing down to a crawl as he gently entered the docking bay and settled down.

"Sorry about that, but I wanted to give us some time to find the portal before Scourge catches up," Xardius said, jumping from his seat.

"Hurry before the soldiers here have time to react and we have to fight our way out!" Xardius yelled over his shoulder as he sprinted from the ship towards a door.

OOC: I don't know what I'm doing anymore...

 

OOC: Just...have Xardius fight Scourge. That's what I'm waiting for.

Xardius ran through the portal...followed by the rest of the UO...

Maybe someday we'll know what really happened...

Then Scourge ran through the portal...

OOC: Nulix, help me out please; I'm going to start posting the Xardius/Scourge battle soon, but first I need to know where I am...

 

The UO emerged from the portal to find themselves on a red rock hillside. Below was the Skypit city, a battle raging through the streets. And beside the city stood the Skpit, a flaming mountain that light the world around it in a burning red. Around the portal were U.O. guard, who began to fire at the UO on sight...

 

Wing threw up a wind guard that blocked the bullets as the UO ran for cover.

"All right, here's the plan," Xardius panted once they had hidden behind some rubble. "I'm going to take on Scourge; you guys focus on saving our allies and getting rid of that Virus, got it? Wish me luck..."

OOC: Rather than having Xardius do everything...

BIC: Xardius ducked from boulder to boulder as Scourge erupted from the portal, fire streaking out to hit the U.O. guard, baking them to burnt crisps.

"LIONHEART!" Scourge roared, flames erupting around him, cracking the ground.

"Right here," Xardius muttered, leaping into plain sight and running away from the rest of the fighting. "Catch me if you can..."

Scourge blasted forward, focused on one target...

OOC: I'm going to reply as soon as I post this, because the last posts of Scourge vs Xardius are going to take some time. You guys post what you need/want to to finish the Virus stuff.

 

Cotaxus, Crapo, and Skinnar flew above the battlefield in Ulfarian Skytank. "Just got a repot, the UO's here, Skinny," Cotaxus muttered. "With the Virus."

"Do we have anything that can stop the Virus?" Skinnar asked, "In case they learned to control it."

"We have a missile, a really powerful missile," Cotaxus replied...

 

It was a clash of titans, neither giving ground as they flashed back and forth, swords grinding against one another, steel vs steel in a never-ending duel of blades. Neither spoke, but their eyes were like four furnaces of anger, over a century of emotion finally giving way like an avalanche.

"Give up the act, Rune," Xardius growled at one point. "Don't keep pretending like you want to me to kill you. You want to kill me just as much as I want to kill you."

Scourge said nothing, but his eyes tightened.

At another point, Scourge spoke, "What drove you over the edge, Darius? Was it anger? Hate? Or are you just afraid? Afraid of what you can do?"

Xardius said nothing, but a snarl formed on his face.

Then, finally, the duel was over. Scourge's sword slipped through Xardius' guard and pierced his chest, driving straight through to the other side. Xardius coughed blood as Scourge ripped the sword free.

"You don't have what it takes to kill me," Scourge growled. "I intend to use your power to drive Oblivion from my mind. I will be cleansed, once and for all." He brought the reddened sword blade to his face, examining the blood of Xardius. "With this blood, I will be able to, ugh!"

Xardius' sword stabbed upwards, driving the point into Scourge's sternum and up between the shoulders.

"Give over," Xardius spat. "You're just like a wild animal...No thoughts, only pure instinct. Don't ever drop your guard, or you'll get gutted. It's over when one of us is in pieces, and no one wound is going to take either of us down. So stop giving me garbage, or I'll rip you apart with my bare hands!"

Scourge's hand closed on Xardius' blade, yanking it from him with barely suppressed shudders.

"Very well," Scourge panted, blood pouring to the ground. "Till we are dust, we shall fight."

"You make it sound like it'll be forever," Xardius smirked. "But I'll make sure it won't be."

Then steel met steel once more, in a never-ending duel of power.

OOC: ACK! I might not be able to finish today... I'm running out of time!!! I might get the second part out of three done, but I don't think I'll get the third part in on time. I have to do some stuff anyway, so I'll write up the second part separately, then post it later. POST!

 

Darxess uttered a groan as his hand appeared from beneath the rubble of the ruined pillar. After several minutes of hard work, he finally managed to pile all of the rocks off of himself and climb out of the rubble. By now, it was much more than merely his finger that was broken. He summoned his staff and leaned on it, for he was incapable of standing on his own at the moment. Slowly wandering down the rocks, he finally managed to get on solid ground. By now, a half hour has passed since he first woke up from within wreckage. Darxess shook his head. He had a headache far worse than any hangover he's had in his life. He heard a sound from behind himself as Orb made his way out from the rubble. It was hard to describe the sound, for Darxess had not heard any sound like it before in his life. After several minutes of contemplation, Darxess finally settled on a word.
"I'm not exactly sure, but it distinctly sounded like "WUNT"...Yeah, that's what it sounded like."
Smiling to himself over this new word in his life, he wandered off toward a bright flash of light he saw in the distance. He wasn't an expert on the matter, but it appeared a portal had just closed off. Orb floated wearily, slightly damaged from his encounter with Scourge. When he got to Darxess, Darxess pointed out the general direction of the flash with his thumb. "Any idea what that was?"
"Obviously, a portal closing."
"I knew that much, smarty-pants. I meant, what was on the other side?"
"Oh, just a secret U.O. facility with soldiers, tanks, agents, that sort of thing."
"We had a secret facility and I didn't know about it?! Come on! I'm the leader! I'm supposed to know these sort of things! Why was I left out?! I want to command my own little secret facility!"
"Me and the other members agreed that you in command of anything was a scary thought, so we left out that little detail. For the sake of the U.O. as a whole, you see."
Darxess raised an angry fist toward Orb in response to this, but slowly lowered it with a sigh. He knew Orb was right.
He stared at his toes in shame in shame for a few minutes, making an off-hand comment about himself being plenty able to command.
Orb waited patiently, like a father to a child that found out he would likely never become an astronaught.
Raising his head, Darxess waved his hand toward Scourge's throne.
"What happened to ol' Captain Comatose anyhow?"
"My sensors indicate he apparently went through the portal."
"WHAT?! But if he's there...He'll destroy the facility! I JUST LEARNED OF THE DARN THING, I CAN'T HAVE HIM GOING AROUND AND DESTROYING IT! ORB, OPEN THE PORTAL!"
"What...?"
"ARE YOUR ORAL RECEPTORS NOT WORKING PROPERLY?! I SAID OPEN THE GOSH-DARNED PORTAL!"
"Since when did you become Southern?"
"STOP ASKING QUESTIONS!"
Orb made a whirring sound that sounded distinctly like a sigh.
"He'd kill us both, you know that...right? We have no part in this battle, especially in the condition you're in..."
Darxess calmed down as Orb's words set in.
"I...I know, Orb...But, I want to help! I can't have my whole Organization torn apart while I sit at the sidelines! There has to be something that I can do!"
"Don't worry. The other members have grown strong. Far stronger than either of us. And don't feel so responsible, its not like your the real leader anyway, more so in just name only. You know, for ceramonial purposes and all that. Kind of like the Queen of England."
Darxess sighed. "I don't want to be the queen...I know that I might not have any real position in this U.O. anymore due to my extended absences, but that doesn't mean the I've completely forsaken it! I want to help! Orb, help me help them!"
Orb couldn't help it...it was like saying "no" to a lost puppy. "Fine...We'll help them...somehow. You do know that this will probably kill us, right?"
"Probably..."
Orb made another whirring noise. "Ok then, its settled. Pack your bags, for tonight, WE DINE IN HELL!"
Darxess raised his staff over his head and made the toughest yell he could muster. A passing kitten scoffed over how weak it sounded. Darxess rolled his eyes.
Tapping into the reserves of Scourge's castle, Orb was able to gather enough power to reopen the portal. Assuming the face of one who walks to his own grave, Orb passed through. Darxess passed behind him, grinning like a monkey.

With its power source cut off, the portal closed. No turning back now.
