"I guess he is alive," Xane said, noting the man running towards them. "And I don't want the paper. It could be infected by the Virus. I really wouldn't touch anything just yet."

 

"What business do you have with the leader of the Bronss gang?" The older man asked...

 

Tyre punched Kuaxa in the face, knocking him out.

"What an idiot," Tyre said. "We have business here. I'd lock up this moron until further notice."

Guards dragged KuaXa off and slammed him in a cell.

Sorry about that, Tyre thought to himself. But...bulling your way through a situation isn't everything.

The man groggily sat up as Tyre revived him with a small jolt of electricity.

"We'd like to talk to the leader about the Virus," Tyre said. "I believe he knows where it is..."

 

"Everybody stop knocking everybody out," Xane said. "That's my job. Anyway, we need to know where the Virus is."

 

"Siz' zouei! Marafela com' peke Sora! Falenqo nevara," The young man said. "Our leader says that the Virus is a Sora System creature. Take your troubles there," The older man explained.

 

"Don't give us that bull," Xane said. "We saw this janitor dying from a Virus infection when we reached this world. Here's a little visual support," Xane said, holding up the janitor's picture.

 

"Hmm... Alecoteve evana," The leader muttered. "He's never seen that man before in his life," The older man said.

 

Tyre sighed, mentally calculating the bribe he would have to give to the Bronss Gang.

 

"Then you don't mind if we call in our connections to the Ulfire army," Xane bluffed. "They'd be here in seconds."

 

The leader rubbed his chin, "Zomas... eravonada ve Zaliatso managea mifet." The older man sighed, "Last we saw it was in the south, running away. Far south is where you shall find it."

 

"And you're not lying to us? "Xane asked, cracking his knuckles.

 

"Zava," The leader replied, shaking his head no.

 

Tyre leaned in close to the man and whispered. "Listen, if you're telling the truth, I can give you guys enough money that you'll be able to get actual work done around here. You won't have to raid anymore and endanger yourselves. Or you can buy better weapons. You can buy food. If you're not, I can't give you much. Send a representative with us, and if this works out, you get your money. How does that sound to you?"

 

"Elvana currencia el laville congrod... un iz fata morgana!" The leader chuckled. "We don't need your petty gifts. Our money making ways are going well... and they keep getting better," The older man said.

 

Tyre nodded and smiled. "Sure they are. Keep it in mind, however. I'd still like a representative."

 

"Zifa denamo," The leader replied. "Request denied. Have fun on your hunt," The older man said.

 

"We're wasting time, Tyre," Xane said. "Let's just follow their lead. If they're lying, we'll just wipe 'em out later."

 

"No...we won't," Tyre said, emphasizing 'we.' He opened the cell door and pulled KuaXa out. "Come on, we're leaving."

"Oh, one more thing," Tyre said, not noticing KuaXa's reaction to waking up. "I'd change locations very soon."

He walked out, not looking back.

 

The leader glanced at the translator. "Zinada... diass begrande benavlo," the leader muttered. The translator smiled, "Get the turrets ready!" He yelled...

 

Xane yawned, climbing back up the ladder, towards the corn field.
