"I guess we could do that," Xane grunted.

 

Lexx smiled, "Outstanding."

 

"So, where do we head to?" Xane asked.

 

Lexx handed Nulix and Lexx some sort of small, flat screen device. "Those are HD U.P.A. smart phones. That button in the corner automatically calls me, the button on the other side of the phone calls the Odyssey, the U.P.A.'s top surveillance program. That screen has internet, video chat, GPS, all within the U.P.A. network."

"Wow," Nulix said, examining the phone.

"Watch how I do this," Lexx said, pressing the Odyssey button. "Hello? Lexicon here... I want the location of Esac Cack on Dark Space..." The screen on Lexx's phone turned into a GPS like setup, showing the location of Esac Cack. "He's in a town called Luxenberg, its two towns over... looks like he's trying to buy a Gummi..."

 

"Guess we should head there now," Xane said, starting to walk outside.

 

The Brotherhood guy ran off...

Xardius kind of just stood there...feeling stupid...

 

"Xardius, nice race," Nulix said, walking up to Xardius. "You were smart... you stayed away from all the craziness in the front and just dodged, then in the end you had speed on your side since your vehicle was in the best shape... smart man. Wish I could do something like that... but, you know, competition gets the best of me."

 

"I was going to let you win," Xardius said. "But your ship rather fell apart on me..."

"But I'll tell you something, Nulix," Xardius said, rubbing a hand through his hair and sighing. "There's four kinds of people out there: there's the cowards, there's the angry, there's the careful, and there's the brave. The cowards hang in the back, waiting for an opening when they can strike and make their fortune; the angry attack you with everything they've got all the time; the careful hold their own, but let the others wear themselves down before making their move; and the brave: the brave ride through the war with flying colors. They might not win, but they certainly fought the good fight."

"Nulix," Xardius said. "You were one of the brave in that race. Just wanted you to know that. So, what's going on?"

 

Nulix smiled, "Xardius... thanks. Uh, Lexx got himself a mission for us, to see if we like his working style, if you will. He gave us these phones, check this, look at this GPS thing... it's really cool. He wants us to find a guy called something Cack. A U.P.A. traitor who's hiding out on this world, we have his location and everything so it should be quick..."

 

"Hmph," Xardius said. "So long as he pays us..."

Xardius looked at the GPS, and nodded. Pulling out his cellphone, he called Wing quickly and asked him to bring the Dueling Dragons over.

Within a few minutes, Wing had driven the gummi over.

"It'll take us about 5 or so minutes to go over there," Xardius said. "It'll kind of be a tight fit, but I think we can manage for the time..."

He climbed in, motioning for Nulix to follow him.

 

"It's not cool," Xane frowned. " 'Cause he wants us o do the U.P.A's dirty work."

 

"With the U.P.A. we have a space station talking to us, that's very cool Xane," Nulix said, getting into the Gummi. "He's hiding out in a town Luxenberg, he's heading down forty-eight street as we speak."

 

"This is a money thing, right?" Xane asked. "Why else would you be so happy to work for people whose methods aren't always...in the best interest of the citizens they're supposed to protect."

 

"Its not just money, I think its a better way to work," Nulix replied...

 

Xardius roared up the engine and drove quickly over there...

"One wonders where they're getting all this money in the first place," Xardius muttered. "And one wonders how much they really have to be able to pay us, as Nulix put it, millions on a regular basis..."

 

"If you think so..." Xane said. "I don't really like being in the employ of the U.P.A..." Xane frowned.

Meanwhile, outside the Bureau's U.P.A offices. A large group of U.P.A employees, were being interrogated by Rentu Skinnar to determine who activated the Anti-Virus Program. Mellodia was among them.

Venture Jr waited outside the offices.

 

"Tax dollars hard at work," Nulix replied to Xardius.

"Fill out the form before you and remember, if you lie, we will kill you," Skinnar said, lighting a cigar...

 

"Who gave the UPA legal authority to tax people?" Xardius grumbled, pulling down the street previously mentioned.

 

Xane yawned. "Where'd you say this guy was again?"

Mellodia was the next one to be interrogated. She first filled out all of the paper work, as instructed.

"Its the Sora System giving them money, paying them in exchange for military services." Nulix said, "That's why the Knights are practically extinct, cause the U.P.A. replaced them as main military. Once that happened the Knights cash flow stopped, same will happen to the U.P.A. The difference now is that the U.P.A.'s are getting their own taxes from any occupied war areas, meaning the Dark Worlds. They're squeezing this place dry of every cent its got."
