"The mayor?" Xane asked. "Sounds like a start."

 

OOC: Never mind, I got an hour.

BIC: Xardius nodded. "That's what I thought."

They walked up to the mayor's house. He knocked.

Nothing happened so he knocked again.

When nothing happened, he pounded.

When still nothing happened, he raised a foot and kicked the door down, right into the face of the old decrepit servant who moved really slowly and took 5 minutes to come to the door. Xardius had waited a total of 15 seconds.

Not noticing the flattened servant, Xardius trod over both door and man and walked inside.

"Jeez, what a wreck," he said, shaking his head.

 

Noxas woke up, to only notice that he was alone.
he went downstairs and saw some pancakes with a note someone left.
"we went to the mansion at the hill". that was what it said, so he quickly ate.
as he went out, he decided that it was time to find out what happened to Bella, so he ran to the mansion.
when he arrived, he noticed that the door was opened already.
"guuuys" "you here?" he asked.
he looked around and saw the other standing and talking.
"guys, we gotta find out what happened to Bella" now"
he was determined that nothing would interfere in his search.

OOC: Just how it is...

BIC: "Can't," Xardius said. "We've got other things to do..."

 

OOC: You still online?

BIC: "Uh, Xardius, I think you..." Xane started.

 

OOC: Yup.

BIC: "Hmm, what did I do?" Xardius said, looking around. "Besides bashing down a deserted house's door."

"Excuse me," an man in his sixties said, coming out from another room. "But you're standing on my butler."

Xardius looked down, heard a muffled moan, and stepped off, embarrassed.

"Er, sorry, chum," Xardius said, picking the door off the butler, and helping him up.

"Quite all right, young sir," the butler said, brushing himself off slowly. "Happens all the time."

"Somehow I doubt that," Xardius said under his breath. "You going to be all right?"

"I've had worse," the butler smiled. "There was this one time I was swimming near the coast and this great white shark approached me..."

He made a quick motion with his wrist and smiled. "The shark wasn't the same afterward..."

 

"...Right," Xane shrugged. "We're just here to ask a few questions."

 

"Go relax, Sam," the mayor said, walking more into the room. Sam nodded, and trundled slowly off.

Xardius pushed the door back into its hinges. "Er, we didn't think anyone was here..."

"What questions do you have?" the mayor asked Xane, ignoring Xardius.

 

"Everyone in this town has been acting...weird," Xane. "We thought we'd ask you to see if you knew why. So, do you know why?"

 

"Unequivocal generosity is often perceived as being strange by those who have never had it before," the mayor said. "The people are here live in a sort of utopia, because at the end of their lives, they will be nothing but fodder for the higher-ups to use in experiments. Most people agree that in being helpful they can perhaps make up for the wasted pretense of their existence."

He shrugged. "Those who disagree leave. Eventually, they come back, discontented and willing to work in our village. I'm sure this will answer a whole new slew of questions, so let's retire to another room."

He moved into the room he'd come out of, with the UO following. "Please sit and ask your questions."

 

Xane glanced at Xardius. Nothing the Mayor had said sounded any good. What type of world was this? Experimentation on it's citizens?

"So this world isn't under U.P.A or Brotherhood control?" Xane asked.

 

The mayor hesitated. "Not directly. The Brotherhood keeps an eye on us, but they don't interfere. At the moment, we have a Brotherhood member staying at the hotel. Would you like to meet them?"

 

"...Yeah," Xane nodded. "We would."

 

Xardius looked wary, but he didn't dispute it.

The mayor nodded, and left the room.

"You sure?" Xardius asked Xane. "This could be dangerous for the people around here."

 

Nulix scratched his fake mustache, before peeling it off. "God damn it, they left me here," Nulix muttered, eating the last of his pancakes and walking towards the exit...

 

"Relax. If he wants a fight, we take it to the mountain peaks," Xane said.

 

"Hmph," Xardius muttered. The mayor came back, trailing a tall lanky man with black hair.

"This is Eclipse," the mayor said. "Eclipse, these are..."

"Xane and Xardius," Xardius said, pointing.

Eclipse nodded. "I've heard of you. What did you want to see me about?"

Xardius shook his head. "What is going on here?"

Eclipse sat down. "The government is attempting to create a Utopian society by genetically enhancing everyone in the village at birth to model a Brotherhood member who was born here. This was done against our knowledge for the past decade, so I have come here for several reasons, one of which is to stop them from producing any more enhanced babies, and to protect these citizens from their fate."

 

"And that's why we...Eh..." Xane started. "Actually that doesn't really seem that bad at all....Uh, and do you know any female Brotherhood members who reside here? I saw one in a bar yesterday screaming he lungs out."

 

"Hi all," Nulix said, walking into the room. "Whats going on Xane, Xardius?"

 

"We're trying to find out why this town's citizens are acting weird," Xane answered. "Apparently they're all genetically enhanced."
