Nobody bought the rights for YGO yet, and I just looked onto it to see if I really was mixing it up, not only I was, but 4Kids filled a lawsuit to prevent other companies from getting the rights to dub Zexal, and possibly the others series.
Or at least make it harder to.

Also, 4Kids was sued because they sold the DVD rights to FUNimation without permission from TVTokyo and not paying some bills, not due to plot holes.

everyone watches subbed over 4Kids failures...
well...I tend to search out the better versions of the subbed episodes cuz some subbed episodes just wont do with their spelling errors...
oh btw Jaden, I thought they tought japanese in high school as the 2nd lang. thing did they not?...

You don't get it...I don't care about the subs...I just wanna hear the characters speak in english...

 

in my opinion, I think that the japanese voices fit with the characters better plus they dont cut out stuff from the episodes like english dubs do...

Dub Yugi sounds WAY better...And who doesn't love Dan Green? I think he does Yami rather well.

 

Ok maybe I should have been more clear/fare. Some of the dubs (including Yu-Gi-Oh) work. I agree with you there.
But some things that become dubed kind of lose their edge. Ex: I thought KH BBS's english dub was horrible. Those voice actors were terrable. (ha zing) And other things like Naruto, the english dub takes all the cursing out. I know that not really a bad thing, but it makes me still think that the characters are still kids. We're teens, and we curse a lot. (ok well I do if no one else will stand to the plate) Bottom line: Not everything dubed is bad. But not everything dubed is great.

 

Don't get your duel disktm in a knot, I actually prefer dubbed versions because I'm not always paying attention and it's better when I can hear the characters talking. I however do not like some of the people who dub them(4kids), Funimation on the other hand does a pretty good job.
I realize 4kids takes scenes and lines out cause in their opinion it's not "4kids", but they shouldn't be dubbing them to start with if that's what they think. If companies dubbed them completely I would be much happier, but until that happens I can live with some subs.

Also I'm not sure on the Japanese vs English debate, it depends on the character. Kaiba for instance sounds good in either language.

Without a Brooklyn accent in the dub, LK wouldn't have a Brooklyn accent to make fun of.

 

ok, yes, I like funimation cuz funimation dubs are = to japanese...
but 4Kids dubed...(and this convo was mostly against 4Kids...) just sucks.
not that all of the 4Kids english voices are bad, but the fact that they cut out so much stuff makes japanese subbed versions better xD
and I agree with this cuz pegasus just sounds like a woman in the subbed version...LOL
